It seems like this type of collusion wasn't considered as a possibility by the team.

17/ In Pokemon's case, the answer is to keep the competitive & collector economies separate. There are cards released to appeal to collectors with iconic art, but weak competitively. And there are ugly cards (looking at you Shaymin EX) that are expensive purely for their power.

mtg is still extremely centralized, wotc controls everything, not the community

the community came up with commander and wotc embraced it (which is the most played format)
