The Stalham Broads WI was formed in November 2021 and is part of the Norfolk Federation of WIs. The group is for all women who live in the Stalham area.
The Norfolk Federation of WIs today put on a 'Tank' Driving day at the Muckleburgh Military Collection, Weybourne. When members of all ages had the chance to drive an Armoured Personnel Carrier. This is just one of many activities you can find WI Members getting upto.
5th May saw The Stalham Broads WI once more providing a buffet for our town's Annual Meeting where our President Irene collected a small grant from the local town council to assist in a community event we are planning later in the year.
Living in North Norfolk we are very much aware of the effect of climate change. This is why every year our members create numerous green hearts to place in the local area for the Show the Love Campaign. Work on 2026 hearts has already started.
2026 started with a papercraft session when after a little instruction members managed to all create an individual card of their own. Everyone was different yet the kit was the same.
We don't meet for a formal meeting in December. We would rather celebrate with a meal, this year we visited The Sea Marge Hotel in Overstrand (a bit of a treck from Stalham but well worth the effort).
In November, The Stalham Broads Walkers joined up with one of our sister walking groups from Norwich (Old Catton and Sprowston WIs) for a walking safari around Norwich. We were even lucky to get our photo taken with a certain little bear you loves marmalade sandwiches.
It's the time of year when once again we bring out our poppy collection and remember those of the town who have served their country and those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice either in the forces, emergency services or just by being in the wrong place at the wrong time.
What a busy month August has been, first off we held a Craft Sale, then we had our monthly meeting when we made either cards or brooches with decoupage clay squares, we held a garden party, and all 5 of our groups were busy. September is shaping up to be just as busy.
Our next fund raiser of 2025 is something new for us. We have a few crafters in the membership so we decided to give them a chance to show what they can do.
On Wednesday our walking group had our last meet up of the year when instead of braving the outside we went to Norwich Catherdral to have a look round.
When our secretary suggested a Dental Matters tree as per this year's Resolution some were sceptical. Today our tree went up and as you can see the dental theme worked. Naturally the decorations will not go to waste as the local foodbank will benefit once the festival ends.
November's meeting was our second Annual Meeting of the year owing to a change to all Norfolk WIs Annual Meetings from February to November. Not that the official stuff took long to get through. Which meant members could enjoy the morning's activity which was decorating glasses.
After the fascinating talk by Rosie at our September meeting we now look forward to October's meeting which is our early third birthday celebration (early because we didn't want a clash with the Annual Meeting in November) and a talk on Loose Elastic by Ruth Smith.
A few days after the meeting nine members (plus 1 male) went Dotty, or to be exact they went to Dotty Pottery to paint some ceramics. In the two hour session there was lots of chat, laughter and some excellent artistic work.
