Our last two open evening events took place in Carlow and Kilkenny last Wednesday evening. We had lots of interest in roles and what life was like working in the Ambulance Service. Thanks to all the staff who supported these events, without your support they wouldn't be possible
Asthma causes around 50 deaths every year in Ireland.
If you're having an asthma attack, your inhaler isn't helping and you can't breathe, call 999 or 112.
Never be afraid to call for help in an emergency.
More people die of sepsis in Ireland than heart attacks and stroke.
Sepsis can hide behind any infection. It is treated most effectively if recognised early, so it's important to know the symptoms so that you don't miss the signs.
The word FAST will help you recognise when a stroke is happening and what you need to do.
Call 112 or 999 immediately. The sooner a person gets treatment for a stroke, the less damage is likely to happen.

Providing our Emergency Medical Controllers with your exact location when calling 999 can make it much easier for our team to get to you in an emergency.

RSV (respiratory syncytial virus) is a common virus that causes coughs and colds for babies every winter.
Almost all children get RSV by the time they are 2 years old. Find out what parents need to know about RSV by watching this video from Dr. Ciara Martin.

“We tell people it is better to do CPR on somebody who doesn’t need it than not do it on somebody who does."
Great piece in today's @IrishTimes on the importance of bystander CPR and our amazing Community First Responders.

An honour to be asked to speak at the unveiling of a plaque to memory of the legendary Gabriel "Gaybo" Howard in Stamullen this afternoon. Gaybo was a legendary figure locally, but particularly in cycling he was nationally known as a rider and a volunteer.
I urged people to become volunteers in sport, just like Gabriel Howard. He was an extraordinary volunteer. The number of volunteers in sport has declined somewhat since Covid and I strongly encourage people to get involved!
Thanks to Mrs Kay Howard and family for the invite to speak.
