Red Bull Racing is currently doing everything it can to keep Max Verstappen at the team beyond the current season. In essence, the message is simple: whatever the Red Bull driver wants, the team is willing to agree to it—provided it is realistic.

Red Bull had secretly hoped that Verstappen would provide clarity about his future last weekend in Hungary, but the Dutchman chose not to. At a time when teams are already making plans for next season, Red Bull remains uncertain about its star driver's intentions.

Team principal Laurent Mekies understandably wants an answer because, if Verstappen decides to leave, the team will need enough time to find a replacement.

Within Red Bull Racing, however, almost nobody believes Verstappen will walk away from the Milton Keynes-based team after the 2026 season, despite previous rumors linking him with a move to McLaren.

GPblog understands that, despite Verstappen's recent criticism of the team, he still feels very comfortable at Red Bull. The fact that he has not given a definitive answer is seen internally as a way of achieving something. At the very least, Verstappen appears to want to keep the pressure on the technical department.

Recently, the German newspaper Bild reported that "Red Bull Racing has offered Max Verstappen a new contract until the end of 2029." According to GPblog, that report is undoubtedly correct. However, it does not tell the whole story.

GPblog understands that Red Bull has presented several different options to Verstappen's management, hoping that one of them will satisfy the four-time world champion and convince him to remain with the team at least through the 2027 season.

Don't be surprised if Verstappen ultimately receives "only" a salary increase—or another contractual arrangement—as long as it keeps him at Red Bull.

According to reports, Red Bull has attached one condition to every possible concession or contract adjustment: Verstappen must agree to remove the clauses that would allow him to leave the team early.

The Austrian outfit wants to put an end to the annual speculation over whether Verstappen will stay or leave, as that uncertainty makes it harder to attract sponsors and recruit new staff. Furthermore, Red Bull wants to build its future around Verstappen and return to being the benchmark team in Formula 1.

@RMblanco0109 @verstappenews We all know the soft tyres were way better than the medium or softs. Our race pace on the softs was pretty solid, but he definitely could've pitted for another set of soft tyres, even if they were already used. I was just scared he might get a puncture. Luckily it all worked out.
