Toronto Police Chief just said it out loud, plain as day.

The vast majority 85 to 90% of traceable crime guns in Canada’s biggest city come from the United States. These are illegal guns in the hands of criminals who don’t have licenses and never will.

Not law-abiding Canadian owners. Not licensed hunters, sport shooters, or farmers who follow every rule.

Yet for years the Liberals have obsessed over banning and restricting legal firearms while the real problem, smuggled illegal guns, keeps flooding in.

This isn’t about responsible owners. It’s about criminals who don’t obey laws and a government that seems more interested in punishing the people who do.

After 11 years of this approach, Toronto’s streets tell the story. Time to stop the theater, secure the border, and go after the actual criminals instead of the guys who already pass background checks.

Canada is becoming a nasty mix of Huxley and Orwell.

Huxley warned about people being distracted into submission by comfort, entertainment and convenience. Orwell warned about governments using fear, censorship and manipulated language to control what people are allowed to say and even think.

Carney adds the modern ingredient: luxury beliefs.

These are policies promoted by insulated elites who rarely pay the real cost. Working Canadians get higher taxes, weaker services, expensive housing, fewer opportunities and a declining standard of living. The political class gets applause, status and moral self-congratulation.

Then come Cipolla’s Five Laws of Stupidity. Too many Liberal voters keep supporting policies that harm the country, hurt their neighbours and eventually damage their own families, while convincing themselves that obedience makes them compassionate and sophisticated.

The result is a country where failure gets renamed progress, censorship becomes safety, dependence becomes compassion, lower living standards become sacrifice, and anyone who objects is treated as the problem.

Orwell supplied the language. Huxley supplied the distraction. Carney supplies the luxury beliefs. Liberal voters keep supplying the consent.

The OECD’s latest Employment Outlook calculates the cumulative change in real (inflation-adjusted) wages between Q1 2021 and Q1 2026.

For Canada, the cumulative change is basically zero, meaning flat or no growth in real wages over a five-year period.

A friendly reminder that many of the politicians expressing their disgust today at the recent Toronto shootings voted for and passed Bill C-5, which removed mandatory prison sentencing for multiple offences involving firearms, such as:

-Using a firearm or imitation firearm in the commission of an offence.
-Possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition.
-Weapons trafficking and importing/exporting firearms.
-Discharging a firearm with intent or while being reckless, as well as robbery and extortion with a firearm.

They also backed Bill C-75, which lowered the bar for bail, making it easier for violent criminals and gang members to be released back onto our streets.

Doctor: "Round we go."

Patient: "Is a single one of these treating something I actually feel?"
