Today, thousand of Alaskans spoke up for one of our most treasured resources - salmon. The election results did not go our way - Measure 1 did not pass. But we will continue to push for a higher standard of care for our salmon rivers. Thanks for all your support!
"Pebble claims a small mine, but expansion is already planned through an obscure application with the state. They plan to use cyanide in phase 2. ...The water, once polluted, will need to be monitored in perpetuity. That means forever."

“I don’t want my children and grandchildren to have to ask me what it was like to go fishing."

215 Alaskans testified against Jason Brune's confirmation in the legislature. 24 legislators voted against his confirmation. We thank these people for defending our clean water and fisheries, and hope Mr. Brune got the message.
Reminder: Pebble Mine's public hearing on the draft DEIS is tomorrow at the Dena'ina Center. Come testify between 12:00 - 8:00 and attend a rally at 5:30.

Dear Senators Murkowski, Young, and Sullivan,
Fisherman of Bristol Bay are calling on you to stop the corrupt EIS Pebble Mine process. Show us you care by supporting us, our livelihoods, and most importantly, our Salmon! #NoPebbleMine#SaveBristolBay#SaveOurSalmon
#Dillingham, Alaska. You're up tomorrow! This could be your last chance to say no to the proposed Pebble mine, and to protect the Bristol Bay watershed, and Alaska water, fish, & ways of life. #SaveBristolBay

If Jason Brune can't be trusted to be honest about a public document in an open hearing in the legislature while he needs their votes to keep his job, then what can we expect behind closed doors?
@CumbeeJames A feasibility study is not about a "route" it is about the financial viability of a project. There are serious doubts about the financial viability of Pebble allegedly smaller footprint. This raises questions about their real intentions.
The Pebble Mine is being pushed by a company that has never built a mine, and has not even figured out whether the project is financially viable. The Army Corps never should have accepted the permit application.
From Pebble's own financial report: “The Group is in the process of exploring and developing the Pebble Project and has not yet determined whether the Pebble Project contains mineral reserves that are economically recoverable.” #NOPEBBLEMINE https://t.co/pvZDUQiH8d
Rich big wig who wants to exploit #BristolBay, AK, to profit (himself) & presumably a Canadian mining company gets a one-on-one with the #Alaska governor, who apparently only stands tall for Outside corporate interests & industry elites.
#SaveBristolBay#NoPebbleMine
Pebble cannot tell us if their proposed project is even economically viable. The Army Corps of Engineers should not be reviewing a plan that fails to include this kind of feasibility study. #StopPebbleMine

Reminder: he hasn't had his confirmation vote yet. Today would be a great day to call your legislators and tell them exactly what you think of this.

While states like WA, OR & CA spend millions to salvage remnants, "there’s a perfectly intact ecosystem with a healthy fishery sitting there in Bristol Bay that just needs to be left alone." #NoPebbleMine https://t.co/mssD4cB4YA
This is unambiguously good, and Alaskans should sincerely thank Sen. Murkowski.
But if you value water quality, you have to oppose Pebble Mine. Giant pit mines are not compatible with clean water. We hope Sen. Murkowski will stand up for Bristol Bay, too.
Some rural Alaskan communities lack access to safe, clean water. I’m glad to see that in the village of Eek in Southwest AK, a project years in the making is nearing completion that will bring running water to the community for the very first time. https://t.co/eVvQHFL3DU
