Friends group working to save the oldest secular buildings in Leeds - a 12thc-16thc house &15thc tithe barn in Beeston, Leeds starting off with a potager garden
@LEEDS_2023@WOWisGlobal@LeedsCC_News@WestYorkshireCA@AngelaBarnicle@TracyBrabin@hilarybennmp waiting to be a permanent event & work/play space for local community and teaching building skills, both much needed heritage as well as modern. I'm guessing Beeston & heritage culture isn't cool enough, nor the community grow space we're no longer allowed to access to feed folks
Leeds City Council have demolished 400 year old New Hall one of three listed buildings on the historic Stank Hall Barn site in #Beeston

โWe would like to remind the council of the agreement put in place in 2018 with ourselves & Angela Gabriel in those regular minuted meetings, that should this sale fall through it would be handed over to ourselves and the community to regenerate and restore @eveyroo@ArchHFund
statement โWe have attempted to work with Leeds City Council over the last 8 years to put together a long-term plan for the site, benefiting both the council with income, and the local community with workspace, community centre, heritage building skills training and grow space
We are unable to comment on the accuracy of this statement, but it is beginning to look rather likely, especially now given the support to community and heritage by @LEEDS_2023 , when the oldest building in the city is being ignored.โ
don't forget folks if you are driving to see us today, park at the white rose centre & walk across, as there is no parking at the site. Don't follow your sat nav as we don't have a postcode, here's the instructions for how to find us https://t.co/tlNkIGLeaA #heritageopenday#hod
very excited to be working with the @LandmarkTrust on this project doing partner work and research with our site :-) pop along this weekend to hear their plans
The rather wonderful Calverley Old Hall (a @LandmarkTrust property) is open to visitors this coming weekend. Well worth popping in to have a look round and hear about plans for the future of the site. https://t.co/1BcVmyfftA
