Fresh Attack Reported in Lasan-Langka Area
Lasan, Tamenglong District, June 13: A fresh attack was reported in the Lasan-Langka Kuki-inhabited area this morning at around 8:40 AM. According to local sources, armed cadres of the NSCN-IM, in collaboration with the ZUF(K), carried out a coordinated assault in the area.
The incident comes just three days after the killing of Pu Haogin of Lasan Village, which local residents have also attributed to the same groups.
Sources further stated that, weeks earlier, the Deputy Chief Minister of Manipur had overseen the deployment of additional security personnel in several vulnerable Naga villages in the region. However, Kuki civil society organizations have alleged that repeated appeals for similar security deployment in Kuki villages were not acted upon.
Lasan Village is located near Tamei headquarters, an area where the Tangkhul-led NSCN-IM is reported to maintain a significant presence.
Local organizations claim that repeated attacks targeting Kuki villages in the region have resulted in the deaths of 13 Kuki civilians since February this year. They have renewed calls for stronger security measures and immediate intervention to prevent further violence.

We receive this news with profound relief and heartfelt gratitude. The release of 14 Kuki hostages is not merely the end of their captivity โ it is a powerful testament to what becomes possible when humanity rises above hatred, and when the will for peace overcomes the impulse for violence.
To every individual, every organization, every quiet mediator and tireless advocate who worked behind the scenes to make this moment possible โ we offer our deepest and most humble appreciation. Your courage, patience, and unwavering commitment to human dignity have given these 14 souls back to their families, and given all of us reason to believe again.
To those who chose dialogue over discord, and compassion over conflict โ you have shown us the truest form of strength.
We pray that this release is not an isolated moment of mercy, but the first step on a longer road โ a road that leads to lasting peace, reconciliation, and harmony across our beloved state. Every life that returns home safely is a seed of hope planted in soil that has known too much sorrow for too long.
May this act of humanity open hearts on all sides. May it remind every community โ regardless of identity, faith, or allegiance โ that we are bound together by a shared humanity that no conflict can permanently sever.
Let the return of these 14 lives be a turning point. Let it be the beginning of healing.
Peace is possible. Let us choose it โ together.
