Star Wars comics are honestly just bad. The art is usually bad, the stories are bad.
Recently read Rise of Kylo Ren and it was actively dogshit.
We’ve had legitimately great Star Wars novels, video games, TV shows… when are we getting the first truly great Star Wars comic or graphic novel?
Maybe not a popular take, but I think part of it comes down to how newer projects have been received. Between 2015–18, and then again from 2020–23, there was a real sense of engagement around Star Wars like people theorising, speculating, and debating what might happen next. A lot of the more recent stories just don't seem to invite that same kind of genuine theorising.
@StarWarsMeg1@matpolloy This is exactly the reason, and it has spread to all corners of the SW fandom. There used to be speculation/theory instagram pages, youtube channels, tiktoks, forums and more... All of that is either dead, or pivoted to talking about the state of the brand rather than the content
Star Wars outlaws was expected to me WAY more successful then it ended up being. Originally there were 6 DLC’s planned, with one of them being a direct tie in with the novel. And yes, there was even a sequel planned.
@theStarWarsHQ Its Star Wars as a brand. Even lore and news, which are the biggest sub-niches of Star Wars only had a peak of like 100k during the MOVIE, so I can imagine how bad it was for the gaming niche, which was already smaller... 😔 Stay strong out there 🙏

MANDALORIAN & GROGU coming in around $24M in its 2nd wknd, facing a drop of around 70% for a 3rd place finish. That a big & beloved brand like Star Wars is getting crushed like this by 2 low-budget Gen Z horror movies speaks volumes about where the movie culture stands right now. And where Star Wars stands right now.
On the other hand, HISTORY not to be proud of made, as #TheMandalorianAndGrogu crashes & burns with the biggest 2nd weekend drop EVER for a #StarWars film at US #BoxOffice, after grossing 25M on 2nd 3-day weekend, shocking -69.4% drop from Opening weekend (vs #SOLO’s 29.4M, -65.2%)!, falling to #3 below both #OBSESSION & #Backrooms.
As have been the case since MON, even last year’s #MemorialDay release #TheFinalReckoning (27.2M, -57.5%) did better, despite facing family juggernaut #LiloAndStitch and having -443 less theatres than Grogu!
GROGU hits a 137.4M cume in the US, and could become the first #StarWars live action in history not to hit cross the 200M mark in the U.S.
Eyeing a 185M-195M run in the U.S.
@mon_arkYT Yep, 100%. The reason we keep getting shite is because they only listen to the seals who clap at every single release. If they were willing to criticize fairly, we'd get better content.
Like a Death Star attacked by indie rebels, #TheMandalorianAndGrogu is crashing & burning on 2nd weekend at US #BoxOffice, after grossing just 6.5M on LOWEST 2nd FRI for #StarWars films under #Disney, shocking -80.8% drop from FRI Opening Day (vs #SOLO’s 8.1M, -77%)!, falling to #3 yesterday below both #OBSESSION & #Backrooms.
Once again, even last year’s #MemorialDay release #TheFinalReckoning (7.5M, -69.7%) did better, despite facing family juggernaut #LiloAndStitch and having -443 less theatres than Grogu!
GROGU hits a 118.9M cume in the US.
Eyeing a 22M-25M 2nd 3-day weekend & a 73%-69% drop domestically

Mando and Grogu's legs aren't just bad, they're cratering. This played for Hardcore fans and no one else. 65% weekend drop is locked, could drop as much as 70%. I don't think it hits $200M Domestic.
Damn. Looks like an utter flameout for #MandalorianandGrogu . I thought it was a fun time and I thought the Cinemascore and the more kid like elements would get parents to take their kids for repeat viewings.
It made its initial production budget back, but barring an 'Elemental' miracle, this will be sinking out of sight quickly.
