@educator4ever36 I haven’t taught secondary and I know it has challenges. Will say that elementary has so many extra layers - teaching “how to learn”, basic skills - on top of the curriculum. So emotional. This is where kids get IEPs and that process is arduous. No streaming.
It's been less than a month since the academic year began and a west end school has decided to merge three grades into a single classroom which is not sitting well with parents.
"A class of 27 over three grades is a bit much for any teacher to manage." https://t.co/qSSheo1HFi
A re-org in my school displaced 20 students across 4 classrooms, 4 weeks into the school year. They were all 6&7 years old. My class is still overcap and now I’m a split grade.
Yesterday was re-org day in my board. I overheard students saying things like, “were you re-orged?” and “did you hear about (so-and-so)? She was re-orged out of her math class.”
How did this become a thing? As a student, I’d never heard of re-org. #OntEd

Tonight I'm speaking in San Francisco in support of Proposition 40, the California billionaire tax.
When 60% of Americans live paycheck to paycheck while Musk owns more wealth than the bottom 53% of households, the billionaire class must start paying their fair share of taxes.
@Thumprr01@AndreaGrebenc We’re fighting for size caps, composition ratios, less violence - all impact learning conditions. But yes, my wages should keep up with inflation.
@hearditfromme5@AndreaGrebenc We’re fighting for class sizes, violence, and composition. I have a student try to bite me daily, scratches, and hits.
I’d be happy if that weren’t the case.
@albot80@AndreaGrebenc Only federal governed employees would be affected, like air transit.
The vote in November is only to give education unions the mandate to strike. An actual “now we strike” vote would take place later.
@birchcliffviews@AndreaGrebenc We don’t want to strike, it’s expensive for us. What we want is an earnest intention to negotiate a fair contract. Calandra has every opportunity to bargain in good faith, he’s chose otherwise.
@AndreaGrebenc@MikeJToronto We are not “ramping up”, a strike mandate vote is part of the process, every round. What we have done, is coordinate this vote to send a strong message.
@TDotResident@WendyGoodes Every primary class and some intermediate classes at my school are over cap. Reorg did little to address this, no new class.
One EA for 300 kids.
Disaster!
@edudissenter Not true. Funding cuts have impacted education. Behaviour is an issue in crowded classrooms, interrupted by inclusion models that dump high needs kids in classrooms without support while collapsing self-contained classrooms.
This morning Donald Trump went after immigrants in Canada. He says they're destroying the country.
Here's what immigrants are doing in B.C.: more than 800 doctors, nurses and health workers from the U.S. have moved here to care for British Columbians in our public system. Today I announced we're tripling that campaign and taking it into his own backyard.
Trump can attack us every single day. We'll keep welcoming the people who help us build B.C. strong.
No government should have sweeping power to decide when workers can exercise their fundamental right to strike. I call on @MarkJCarney to respect workers’ rights and amend Bill C-39. #canlab#cdnpoli https://t.co/Q0DZHQnMzc
If you see this graph and don't find Doug Ford's relentless cuts to public education in Ontario problematic, you don't care about public education in Ontario.
