Zero HIV Stigma Day is observed to raise awareness about the stigma surrounding HIV and to promote understanding, compassion, and action to end it. It is a global call to action to eliminate the stigma that continues to negatively impact the lives of millions living with HIV.

The theme for NWGHAAD 2025 is: Hope, Health, and Healing: Overcoming Barriers to HIV/AIDS Treatment for Women and Girls. NWGHAAD focuses efforts on priority populations outlined in the NHAS including Black women and youth aged 13-24 years.
February 7 is National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day (NBHAAD), which was first observed in 1999. This observance is a day to acknowledge how HIV disproportionately affects Black people.

The U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (@PEPFAR) has released a Factsheet with a summary of their fiscal year 2024 global results. It highlights a more than 500% increase in new enrollments on #HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (#PrEP) since 2020 and that 2.5 million people have enrolled in FY 2024 alone on PrEP to prevent HIV infection.
