@KingArthurCole@mikusingularity You are ignorant of how much damage has been done and what it would take the avoid the current expected outcomes.
Communism at least has a chance. Unlike capitalism.
@GrantLavac Bare minimum I would need multiple clear videos of the same unambigous event from different angles. All backed up and corroborated by reputable people.
@HHillespie@toffee_32 I agree with this response to that person specifically. But in general more people should consider open relationships for situations like this. I'm not sure why the assumption should be that women are "mopping up" sexual desire. As if they aren't active participants
@KingArthurCole@mikusingularity No, many of us just want the planet to survive long enough for us to actually reach that good future. We are burning through the planets habitabilty far faster than we are getting into space.
@mikusingularity@sorceressofmath Space is a larp in the short term. If a stable civilization survives a hundred+ year from now maybe we can start doing anything at scale. But for now we have an ecological disaster coming within a couple decades at best. Decoupling isn't happening globally and won't for a while.
@NekoWitchMary@NeoliberalAkiho Reality does not work off of market dynamics. Sorry.
What you want will leads to collapse of civilization and the deaths of billions. The ecosystem can take on damage far faster than capitalism is able to adapt. If it can at all.
No one said to maximize minimization. We only-
@NekoWitchMary@NeoliberalAkiho -low or zero emissions energy and eventually get to a point where we can grow faster. That is not in our inmediate future.
Increasing demand will make us use every single source more. Including coal and oil. Doesn't matter if it's more expensive. Someone will use it.
@NekoWitchMary@NeoliberalAkiho To reduce emissions you need to make less emissions. Nothing else is good enough. CO2 sequestration doesn't work at the scale needed.
We cannot fix ocean accidication without simply making less or no emissions.
On the order of decades to centuries we can build up supplies of-
@_dreameater Depends on the type. Microwaves or laser are the main ideas. You could also have massive super thin mirrors that direct sunlight to a desired area. Though that is much more limited and probably not good for earth directly.
You can also cover the earth in solar panels too.
@NekoWitchMary@NeoliberalAkiho -I haven't even mentioned the use of rare earth metals and land use. We are also causing environmental damage outside of electricity production. We have to deal with top soil degradation, insect die off, ocean acidification, breadbasket collapse, food web collapse, etc etc.
@NekoWitchMary@NeoliberalAkiho -fuel use emissions to a net 0 to avoid horrific income. Emissions are increasing instead.
Getting reliable net zero emission energy from space at the scale need is likely hundreds of years away.
It is very naive to think that would force use to deal with pollution.
Finally-
