The business founder who launched to help the black women in corporate America by creating the impact that trickles down to her. Startup - @isdiversityreal
Gave up for a minute and now i'm back... attending info sessions for #techstars. learning more about the startup ecosystem and the business of accelerators and such.
I've finally come to terms that no one will give you a grant if your business is younger than 2years old and doesn't have 200K in revenue. So I will just use my baby business credit card and sell ebooks #babysteps
Ultimately, I've realized that all these funds for black entrepreneurship are for ppl in business 2+ years and 200k in revenue. I thought it was for women who filed and need help setting up from step 1 = step: finished. #WOSB
At any rate, I will work on my vision plan for the business in order to finish my SWaM cert application. So much paperwork before I can get to creating lol. One woman shop... #WOSB
So i filled out a major banks form in order to get executive coaching. I've never heard back after saying she would reschedule our second meeting. Is this common or should I feel back? #WOSB
I don't get all this "support" for #black#Entrepreneurship. Is it just lip service? There are so many steps to even qualify for gov funding let alone the orgs/banks that want you in business for 2 years to even qualify for grants... I'm exhausted.
I even went and bought the gateway certification to prove i'm black thinking it would help my application for #amazon#blackbusinessaccelerator program.. is this program just smoking mirrors?
Is anyone getting into #amazon's #BBA program? Like.. I applied and i'm just waiting... I got the impression it would quickly start connecting black business owners quickly. two weeks later and nothing...
my challenge is to discover if I could be the community leader/impact advocate that I wish I had right here right now today. Through edu funding opps and making this a regular and welcoming conversation curated by us. We don’t need Karen to build a curriculum for us
And so I will continue building up my company getting the necessary business structure pieces in place so that I can combat severe panic attacks, insomnia, uncontrollable weeping & a deep hurt tht my family couldn’t help/support me.
I was upset that no one told me. Then I was upset that I couldn’t figure this out for myself sooner. Then I was upset that they were once rules+regulations put in place to make sure people like me couldn’t figure out how to find it themselves. And that realization hurt the most
But this morning it just hit me and I was upset because I didn’t know there were already institutions funded by the government to do this and I was mad that there weren’t more opportunities for me to learn about this and empower myself through entrepreneurship
After I registered my LLC with the state, I thought I wanted to build a company frm a place of anger
I started to think about how I would embarrass those who can for keeping us from growing.
3 weeks later I finally see what I need to build is greater community greater awareness
And I want to create something for those who don’t have a tribe to help them get there. Especially as we fighting through a pandemic and in massive isolation. I want to build a communityParticularly for those individuals.
