A lot of gutters in Accra are filled with sand and rubbish. People have built on drainage ways, and others have built without proper planning or drainage systems. Some have even built houses in waterlogged areas. Ramsar sites sef people dey build in Eei 😭The flooding paa dier, unless we all come together as a nation to tackle it, we’ll keep dealing with the same problem every year. 🤭
If you are heading towards the Little Roses area near Integrity School Junction, please avoid that route and use the main road instead. There is a serious gas leak in the area, and all vehicles have been instructed to turn around. Please exercise caution and stay safe this evening.
Accra needs an overhaul planning and government must do whatever it takes to correct the ‘abnormal’ settlement system. If multiple building would have to do down, the government should get the balls and do it!
A city flooding after heavy rain is one thing. A capital city flooding year after year for generations is a failure.
What bothers me isn’t the rain. It’s how we’ve normalized the consequences. A child growing up today can expect the same flooding problems their parents and grandparents experienced. Ghana is failing us.
