I'm live at the pro-traffic rally in Oxford city centre. Ostensibly a protest against LTNs, or low-traffic neighborhoods, it's an intoxicating mix of far-right conspiracy slogans, antisemitism and really terrible hip-hop.
How can we be the Good Ancestors that future generations deserve? Join me and members of @XR_Oxford on March 1 for an inspirational evening of ideas, conversation (and good food) about how we can tackle the ecological crisis together @XRebellionUK@XrRebel https://t.co/j2tfqHRJed
I wrote about the work we've been doing to cut down on the amount of unpaid labour in arts application processes. There's a little calculator and everything, so you can work out just how much of everyone's time you're taking up with preparing proposals.
@Keir_Starmer@RachelReevesMP Your fixation with the word "families" is not helping. You're losing votes centre, left and right by alienating so many different demographics of people who are not in / do not have a "family". Odd how you've been persistent with that word. Would not recommend.
@Keir_Starmer Patriotism is such a tone-deaf word to be using in the current political / world affairs climate. Unless of course you are deliberately trying to attract disillusioned ukip-ers, racists and xenophobes. Whoever writes those for you, I'd sack them now.
My hot take is that most of us have not adequately processed the trauma of the pandemic. And our sprawling, unprocessed trauma chews away at our brains in myriad ways that make us anxious about why we can’t seem to live our lives as instinctively or as joyously as we did in 2019.
The fear of saying something stupid (which stupid people never have) has censored far more good ideas than bad ones. (Leonora Carrington, Offering, 1957)
Maybe donate a few quid to the wonderful @FloparkCC who do all sorts of great community work for local resident while also being one of the best grassroots gig venues in Oxford.
This is impossible. Genuinely. Impossible. I don’t disagree this is absolutely Lily’s truth. I know this is necessary.
And so something has to give, something has to change.
I don’t know what it is.
This thread is worth your time
I gave Suella Braverman her job back after seeing this interview and being reminded of her razor sharp intellect and ability to remain cool and effective under pressure.
