@dean_mlaka 2. It sets up a life of pain and hardship, leading to her murder by the person she loved. Part of Toni's message was her trying to overcome that given name, and how it was not something that defined her, but her life still played that song of doom in the end.

@dean_mlaka 1. I believe that Othello's upbringing taught him a life of pain, violence, and power. Although he did not have power at all growing up he became thirsty for authority, which played a role in Desdemona's death. Violence became the answer for him early on, also leading to death.

@JTemborius 2. I do believe that Desdemona was able to reconcile with Othello because they had the most honest and open conversation thus far in their "lives" in the afterlife. Othello asks if it is too late to repair their love, and Desdemona says they have all the time in the world now.

@JTemborius 1. I think she included the interaction between mothers because it showed the unity of "opposites" in the afterlife. They had different children, different religions, but equal heartbreak. They were able to mourn together even after all that had happened between their children.

@AnnaRunnfeldt 2. Especially in this time period men, like Desdemona's father, made decisions for others. Women did not have a say in how their world became to be, thus they had to "follow them."

@AnnaRunnfeldt 1. Othello learned his violent behavior from an early age when he was enslaved and eventually forced to be in the army. He had control when fighting and started to enjoy fighting because he was good and was able to feel power. He was also able to advance in life through war.

@AnaMira62006174 A musical format for this type of screenplay is not only different but captivating. It casts a net for a bigger audience. Casting POC actors for Hamilton may have been a move to modernize the play and show how different times were then to now.

@colbyyoffutt 1) Hamilton's views on slavery lead Miranda and Kail to a diverse, and somewhat different, cast and screenplay. The only main character that is white in the screenplay is the King. Hamilton also talks of an all-black battalion in the beginning to rise above in the revolution.

@colbyyoffutt 2) New York was an area where change was happening, a new land of opportunity. The political climate offered a stage for Hamilton to learn and rise in the ranks, while also getting his voice out there in the spotlight to be recognized.
