People don't realize that #tariffs are paid by the importer, which in this case is the US purchaser of said goods. The tariff's objective is to make a good's cost so expensive that a local alternative is sourced.

Let's look at some goods,

Canada consumes much more in the way of finished products from the US.

The US consumer has been conditioned to desire cheaper products. Since labor is usually the most expensive part of a product, the consumer has moved to where cheap labor is located.

@AZadarski I think you can get your team into the 12--20 range, pretty easily and be a middling franchise. But to get into the top 8 you need the elite players that only come from being at the bottom. Montreal was a middling team since 2000, with a great goaltender. Very few game breakers.
