@antdude92@DanR64108755 All good haha, I didn’t take your original comment in a negative way. You’re the first person I’ve recommended it to that even knew what it was prior, Infinity flies under the radar for a lot of people even among Uchikoshi and Mystery VN circles.
@antdude92@DanR64108755 My bad, didn’t realize you’re already a fan of E17 lol
Never7 has some cool ideas and I enjoyed a decent amount of it but it just kinda feels lacking in any meaningful resolution
Remember11 is straight up one of the most engaging stories I’ve ever read though, it’s really good
@antdude92@DanR64108755 (Never7 is kinda mid) if you liked Shuten Order cause Nakazawa's writing is a new favorite of mine after playing Infinity. You can tell Shuten Order was really Nakazawa's thing because of how much he promoted it both pre and post launch on Twitter. He's very passionate.
@antdude92@DanR64108755 Kodaka only co-wrote the prologue and Ministry of Security routes. The main scenario writer for the game is Takumi Nakazawa, who is best known for co-directing/writing the Infinity trilogy (Never7, Ever17, Remember11) w/ Uchikoshi. Highly recommend at least Ever17 and Remember11
TL;DR
STOP gassing up The Last of Us as the peak of the medium (losing argument) and START gassing up Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective as the peak of the medium (winning argument)
The problem with discussion of video game writing is that due to it not being a requirement for a game to become popular, a lot of what casual onlookers see is either not focused on having good writing or has good writing but is trying to emulate a different medium (movies/TV)
just don't really care about that stuff. And that's fine! But don't let their tastes cloud your judgment of the medium as a whole. Expand your horizons. There are so many excellent stories in games but they require a little more effort that just looking at what's popular to find.
Disregarding the fact that I'm obviously upset Trails in the Sky isn't here (it should be), we need to have a real conversation about how the integrity of this award is consistently compromised by how many games are included that DID NOT RELEASE THIS YEAR! By my count,

because people vote for new games) and ESPECIALLY the gachas like WuWa and Genshin which consistently get this poll botted because they think winning will get them free pulls. Why the fuck can't you just leave them off and give other games that got nominated for nothing a chance
@XC_Enel and while there are some pretty decent routes, they are piled under heaps and heaps of straight garbage. I know a lot of other people like the game a lot more than I did but I came away from it more disappointed than satisfied, especially as a fan of both creators' works.
@XC_Enel I also just want to give an anti-recommendation to Hundred Line, or at least give a warning that I recommend finding a guide of routes to skip because holy shit that game is bloated. I got every ending since I'm a fan of Uchikoshi and Kodaka's previous works,
