#OTD in #SteelersHistory 1933 the Sun-Telegraph revealed that in the #Steelers first year in the #NFL owner Art Rooney was facing problems recruiting players for his team. The NFL draft wasn't introduced until 1936 with strong encouragement from Bert Bell and Mr. Rooney.
#OTD in #SteelersHistory 1970 the #Steelers began training in Three Rivers Stadium for the first time. They would remain there for 30 years before moving to the South Side where they train now.
Indeed and we should be proud and appreciative of all who served. Some paid the ultimate price and I volunteer to look after some @CWGC headstones including six who paid the ultimate price on the Normandy beaches. The flowers are not mine I just try to keep the area neat and tidy.
On this day in 1944 Pittsburgh woke up to hear and read that Allied Forces had landed in Normandy as the beginning of the end of World War 2 in Europe began. 1/2
Did you know that the first women to land on the Normandy beachhead in June 1944 were nurses of Queen Alexandra’s Imperial Nursing Service?
Their task was to establish a field hospital for 600 wounded soldiers.
They succeeded.
