@DavidMSpence +/- isn’t always everything unfortunately.
22/23 Notts had two guys above 0
24/35 Americans had one guy above 0
Not to say he isn’t bad defensively, because he was. But worth noting that stat is worsened by some poor teams also. That’s the downside to that metric.
Try to pay little mind to the WhatsApp & Facebook moaners but seeing people complain we’ve re-signed a Grandslam’er is somehow a bad thing, I’d be interested to know what Grandslam players people see were a problem over the last two seasons as opposed to the new guys.
Diffley’s re-signing is a huge one. The standout defenceman of the season, taking a big step forward offensively without sacrificing the calm, reliable presence that makes him so effective at the back. Quite possibly the smoothest skater Sheffield has ever seen.
@Door14Hockey Finding the sweet spot between clubs making the money they need and not ripping fans off is razor thin.
Forget “what we used to spend”, compared to other entertainment in 2026, I’d personally say 20-25 an adult is the region it should be in, kids £10? £60-70 for a family of 4.
Watson’s move to Fife makes plenty of sense. He’s now too old for a two-way deal and wants to be playing at EIHL level.
The challenge is that Steele and IBN are just further along in their development right now.
Hopefully he gets the ice time in Fife to show what he can do.

@Dylan103912@pilgrim1889 Not sure why everyone got so angry, think they just read Steelers and presume they must argue thankfully you understood it was a civil conversation.
@pilgrim1889@Dylan103912 By agreeing with you on not enjoying listening to certain people’s streams. Saying someone shouts isn’t offensive, in the slightest. Even some Belfast fans agree.
@andreaowenss@Dylan103912@pilgrim1889 One of the guy shouts a lot, probably from passion but for me personally it’s too much.
Not sure what you are taking from that but this platform isn’t a great place to be if you’re going to take things to heart Andrea.
@andreaowenss@Dylan103912@pilgrim1889 It’s just personal opinions Andrea, the same way you took swipe at Ron’s commentary. I wouldn’t take it overly serious.
@steelermark@johnbiggins678 I’ve spoke highly of Ivan in a previous post, I even spoke to friends how I preferred him in the lineup to Shuds. Shuds wasn’t with it this season hence why I think a change of scenery is needed for him.
Our Brit core is back to resembling that of the grandslam year I’d say.
With Brits hard to come by right now, somebody was always going to make a signing that didn’t exactly ooze confidence.
A lot felt Shudra fell short in Sheffield this year, but sometimes a change of scenery is exactly what a player needs. Were the expectations too high? Maybe.

@steelermark@johnbiggins678 Well I hope you’ve been saying this about him all along and not just because he’s left Mark, happy to revisit but let’s not make it a petty point scoring exercise.
We’re all in this for the love of the game after all.
@steelermark@johnbiggins678 MK he was like 20 years old Mark, the series was a weird year.
He’s more than produced at national level, hit 20 from the 4th when given a decent look in for the grandslam year and didn’t look bad in a reduced role last year.
Anyone can cherry pick stats.
@pilgrim1889@andreaowenss Same way I don’t enjoy the Belfast one, it wasn’t a dig at you. It was a comparison how fans dislike opposites streams, it wasn’t turning it into a competition lol
@steelermark@johnbiggins678 There is no point getting into debate over one of the most successful coaches of the modern era.
I think it’s obvious to see Whis wanted to play with his brother but was never settled.
Difference here id say Shudra needs a change of scenery, whistle didn’t.
@pilgrim1889@andreaowenss We’ll leave the subtle digs next time might be helpful 🤣 I quite enjoy listening to Murph personally. It’s an exaggeration though, generally most prefer listening to their own, there will be exceptions of course.
@pilgrim1889@andreaowenss I have to turn the Belfast one off so I don’t have to listen to screaming, let’s be fair, nobody likes listening to anyone else’s stream because they are all bias to their own teams.
@johnbiggins678 I agree, but having the weight of his dad’s presence in Sheffield is a completely different mental battle.
If any manager will get what they can out of him, I’d put my money on that being Keefe.
