Voting for the next President of the United States is the most important hiring decision you or I will ever make. Donald Trump’s former vice president, chief of staff, secretary of defense, lawyers, and aides--conservative Republicans who started out as loyal Trump supporters--are telling us, based on their direct personal experience of working with him, that if we hire him again as President we will regret it.

They are saying that even if we disagree with Kamala Harris’s politics and policies, she is a better alternative. That a second Donald Trump presidency (a man they once supported) is the worst disaster to be avoided at all costs.

A good con artist knows how to fool us. The trail of people he's burned in the past will tell the truth--if we check his references.

People pursue learning to be happy, to be more fulfilled, to grow. These things have value and telling potential graduate students that they aren't worth it because they might not get a 48k per year with no retirement match job at a Midwest directional school is offensive.

Believing that departments should shutter their graduate programs in the humanities and faculty should stop taking such grad students because they won't get jobs is the ultimate capitulation to the neoliberal logic that a degree is only worth the career credentialing it provides.

@thewritegame During the earliest days pandemic, I decided I'd try making a mock syllabus for a literature/philosophy class (y'know, like you do) that was centered around NieR:Automata. I didn't get very far, but it was fun to try!
