I’m calling on the federal government to immediately match or exceed U.S. tariffs on Chinese imports, including at least a 100 per cent tariff on Chinese electric vehicles.
Taking every advantage of low labour standards and dirty energy, China is flooding the market with artificially cheap electric vehicles. Unless we act fast, we risk Ontario and Canadian jobs.
Over the last four years, Ontario has a secured $43 billion worth of investments in electric vehicle and battery manufacturing, securing hundreds of thousands of good, well-paying jobs. This has been an all-hands-on-deck achievement, working side-by-side with the federal government and our private-sector labour partners.
We can never take our progress for granted. Our workers are the best in the world. As governments, we need to do everything in our power to protect their jobs and the paycheques they take home.
Now’s the time to work with our U.S. partners to deepen and strengthen home-grown, U.S.-Canada supply chains. Now’s the time to protect good, hard-earned Ontario and Canadian jobs by matching U.S. tariffs on Chinese imports.
Today, we gathered at Queen's Park for the first-ever provincial ceremony honouring the police members we tragically lost to suicide because of the line of duty. Their bravery and unwavering dedication to serving Ontario will forever be remembered.
Our government stands in solidarity with police services across the province, working to ensure every member receives the mental health support they need. Their sacrifice will not be forgotten.

This morning, we announced a massive $15 billion investment that will see @Honda build and assemble electric vehicles right here in Ontario!
This is the largest auto investment in Canadian history and will create thousands of new, good-paying manufacturing jobs for Ontario workers.
Honda’s investment cements Ontario’s place as the world leader in electric vehicle manufacturing, with six leading auto-manufacturers in our province. Working with the federal government, we’re creating a home-grown supply chain, building the road to critical minerals in the Ring of Fire and attracting new manufacturing investments that will rebuild our economy and create better jobs and bigger paycheques for our world-class workforce.

Bonnie Crombie refuses to stand up against next week’s Liberal carbon tax hike, but that’s not a surprise.
She spent her whole career raising property taxes and backing carbon taxes, while our government lowered costs by cutting the gas tax and fighting the Liberal carbon tax.
