Executive Vice President, Intra African Trade Bank at Afreximbank Mrs Kanayo Awani, was presented with the Empowering Women’s Award at the recently concluded Rebranding Africa Forum which took place in Brussels, Belgium. In her acceptance speech, Mrs. Awani highlighted the fact that women make up 58% of Africa’s Entrepreneurs, and are responsible for 70% of informal cross-border trade.

The nation has lost Harris Mule, a distinguished former PS for Ministry of Finance and Planning, known for his honesty and sense of industry.

Born in Mbooni 87 years ago, the Harvard-trained economist is pictured here on his wedding day receiving a traditional stool from his father, Philip Mule.

Harris was also the brains behind the Moi-era District Focus For Rural Development policy.

Harris had two honorary degrees - a Doctor of Laws Honoris Causa from York University, and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Honoris Causa from Kenyatta University. Harvard Univrsity also conferred him a Distinguished Alumni award.

Between 2013 and 2022, Harris was the founding Chancellor of Lukenya University.
