@MacFarlaneNews Ah yes, the Art of the Deal: demolish the East Wing to build a ballroom nobody asked for, dump 30,000 cubic yards of literal toxic waste on a municipal golf course, and then try to seize the property because it's 'ruined.' A true real estate mastermind. 🤡⛳️
NEW: In court filing, preservation group alleges Trump Admin has now dumped "substantially" more than 30,000 cubic yards of debris from East Wing renovation at the East Potomac Golf Course in DC...
Debris shows "concerning levels of arsenic, hydrocarbons, and other dangerous pollutants – including lead"
Preservation group is fighting Trump's attempt to take control and overhaul the public golf course
Artificial intelligences do not undergo experiences, do not possess a body, do not feel joy or pain, do not mature through relationships, and do not know from within what love, work, friendship or responsibility mean. Nor do they have a moral conscience, since they do not judge good and evil, grasp the ultimate meaning of situations, or bear responsibility for consequences. They may imitate or even simulate, but they do not understand what they produce, for they lack the affective, relational, and spiritual perspective through which human beings grow in wisdom. #MagnificaHumanitas
I follow with concern the war in #Ukraine, which is experiencing a sharp intensification in these days. I wish to express my closeness to all those suffering due to recent attacks carried out even against civilians. War does not solve problems but worsens them. It does not create security but multiplies suffering and hatred. Where missiles and drones fall, hopes also fall; homes and places of prayer are destroyed, and innocent lives are broken. I entrust all peoples wounded by war to the protection of the Virgin Mary, Queen of #Peace.
HOLY CRAP Trump actually accomplished a miracle. Here is what he got out of Iran:
- Reduce its stockpile of enriched uranium by about 98%
- Limit uranium enrichment to 3.67% purity (far below weapons-grade)
- Cut the number of installed centrifuges by roughly two-thirds
- Only enrich uranium at one declared site (Natanz)
- Stop enrichment activities at Fordow and convert it into a research facility
- Redesign the Arak heavy-water reactor so it could not easily produce weapons-grade plutonium
- Ship out or dilute excess enriched uranium
Allow extensive inspections by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)
Permit continuous monitoring of nuclear facilities and supply chains
- Accept “snap” inspections under expanded monitoring rules
- Avoid building new heavy-water reactors for years
- Stay within strict limits on uranium stockpile size and centrifuge development for set periods ranging from 10–25 years
Ooops, sorry!
That was the JCPOA that Obama signed with Iran, only to have him tear it up, kill 140 kids, get hundreds of Americans injured, 13 killed, and gas prices to surge 50%.
If you poured a gallon of poison in a CEO's pool, you'd be arrested, for attempted murder.
They pour 10,000 gallons into your drinking water, that's just business.
the funniest part of replacing receptionists with AI will be realizing nobody actually documented half the things jessica the front desk person just magically handled every day.
Let us learn to be rich in a different way: more attentive to relationships, more intent on valuing the common good, more attached to the local area, more grateful in welcoming and integrating those who come to live with us.
As evidenced by the unbridled promotion and implementation of technology at the expense of human dignity, we are truly experiencing an eclipse of the sense of what it means to be human. It is imperative to recover an understanding of the true meaning and grandeur of humanity as intended by God. It is in this sense that the challenge we currently face is not technological, but anthropological, and it is my hope that the Encyclical Letter to be published within a few days will contribute to answering this challenge.
No nation, no society, and no international order can call itself just and humane if it measures its success solely by power or prosperity while neglecting those who live at the margins. Indeed, Christ’s love for the least and the forgotten compels us to reject every form of selfishness that leaves the poor and the vulnerable invisible.
still not quite over the fact that i watched 15 year olds get sued for millions of dollars for downloading twelve songs and now we all have to accept AI slop because every tech company in the known universe decided that IP laws don't exist now that they're inconvenient for them
A man on a flight saw me reading a physics textbook and asked, "Are you actually reading that, or is it just for show? Most girls find the math a bit... intimidating."
I closed the book, looked at him, and said, "I find the math quite simple. What I find intimidating is the level of confidence it takes for you to speak to a stranger with that much spinach in your teeth."
He didn't say another word for the next four hours.
Thank You Pope Leo. ✨
This was my key argument in my final presentation for my bachelors degree in 2007. Looking back, it’s one of the most pivotal moments of my life at the time.
I was actually a high school dropout, doing my final presentation for my bachelors in political science & I had a paid internship set up to work for a US Representative.
I listened for YEARS about the Iraq war in the ‘conservative’ half of CO, & because I was pregnant during college (but wanted to keep baby safe so I didn’t rock the boat & let the fierce side take over), I had him, spent 2 years at home with him, went back to college, & threw DOWN so hard in my final presentation, I basically mic dropped, walked out the room, declined the US Representative opportunity, applied to graduate school so I could ‘change the world’, & didn’t even walk to accept my college degree even though I was a high school dropout.
We have a collective short term memory problem if we think the cruel mindset came with Trump.
My final presentation was a GF to the people who told me “Africa wasn’t that bad” when shown photos of child ‘soldiers’ with missing limbs, holding automatic rifles, forced to snort a mixture of cocaine & gunpowder to keep them complaint AFTER they had already chopped off their limbs, so you’re right ‘Todd’, the safari you went on, wasn’t that bad.
To the people who accused ME of hating my country because I showed a link between large oil companies exploiting the meek to the point of war and forced displacement?
The diamond you’re wearing is called a blood diamond for a reason ‘Tina’.
The materials being looted from the earth & destroying tribes, land, sacred sites, cultures, & killing the meekest among us from toxic pollution are “strategic” in nature because that phone, your computer, & everything you interface with, the materials to make them are only found in certain places in the world for a reason. It’s called geology. Obviously it wasn’t an elective course for you ‘Bob’.
You don’t want immigrants & refugees migrating to ‘safe’ countries?
Then take a DAMN HARD look at the factors CAUSING displaced people & immigrants to flee the places of their birth.
If you don’t like it, stabilize the economies of these counties by cutting off the dictators, sanctioning the dictators, stop giving the dictators weapons & ammunition, & then use things like USAID, NGO’s, anthropologists, international development specialists, missionaries & atheists alike, to work with LOCAL populations & tribes to develop infrastructure & economic opportunity, then give ownership & upkeep of said infrastructure and economic opportunity to the local population(s).
*Culture is amazing. Misogyny & things like female genital mutilation are not. I understand misogyny is baked in most, if not all cultures. That will change.
I’m talking about women that can’t speak. Women that can’t teach. Women that can’t drive. Women that get killed by their own family members if they’re raped by their own fathers. Girls who can’t go to school & are forced to marry as children.
That kind of ‘culture’ is actually bullsh*t, which is probably why I was told I’d be a better sociologist than anthropologist.
Workable? If you know what you’re doing and who you’re dealing with, yes.
After I got my bachelors in political science, I went to graduate school for anthropology with a focus in international development.
I left after 1 year to work with refugees instead, & watched with prescient horror, the 1st world make the 3rd world suffer even more.
The 1st World now belongs (so they think) to 1% of 1% of the world’s wealthiest people which includes the space Karen who owns this place, the paradoxal anti-anti Christ, @peterthiel some shite AI companies, the tech broligarchy, Bezos, “old money” that hides behind “new money”, etc.
They have underestimated that needle Pope Leo. @Pontifex ✨
Wow. The Pope was just asked his stance on migration. His answer is amazing:
“I would change the question: what is the global North doing to help the global South in its situation that forces them to migrate.”
The ceasefire announced in Lebanon, however, offers cause for hope; it represents a glimmer of relief for the Lebanese people and for the Levant. I encourage those who are working toward a diplomatic solution to continue peace talks, so that the cessation of hostilities throughout the Middle East may become permanent.
