Senator Ron Johnson told a television audience this week that vaccines cause SIDS, then when pressed for a source said he just read it somewhere and don't quote me. He is a sitting United States senator on the Senate Finance Committee who has a vote over federal health policy.

Dr. Peter Hotez is one of the country's most published vaccine scientists. He is pointing out, patiently and for the thousandth time, that the scientific consensus runs the opposite direction. Vaccinations are associated with a reduction in SIDS incidence, partly because some vaccine preventable diseases, pertussis among them, are actual contributing factors to it.

The senator's source is something he read somewhere. The doctor's source is the accumulated peer reviewed record of controlled studies. In any functioning information environment those two things would not share a platform on equal terms.

Weeks later they met with Trump’s Commerce Secretary.

He called Trump.

Hours after that, Trump announced he would block the new bridge. The opening was set for June 12. It got canceled the day before. The bridge sits there finished and empty.

Now here is the part that should make every taxpayer angry.

Canada paid for the entire bridge.

Every dollar. And the United States already owns half of it for free. Trump is holding up a bridge we got for nothing, to protect a donor who wrote him a check, while picking a fight with our closest ally and biggest trading partner.

This is corruption in plain sight.

A billionaire pays, and the President delivers. American workers and businesses pay the price.
