This makes me so angry. Someone's experience of being spiritually abused should never be weaponized against them or used to try to discredit them when they are addressing abuse. This is so cruel.

They told us to watch for wolves in sheep’s clothing but we’ve begun to realize we should have been watching for wolves in shepherd’s clothing. Our paranoid eyes were trained to see the cries of hurting sheep as threats while the true predator harmed them in the name of “mission”

If I wasn’t clear with the word “probably” I will clarify here… I am not saying every pastor is abusive. I’m saying if your are in a toxic abusive system chances are you’ve witnessed, been complicit, or perpetrated it. We need you to be open and honest about this.

@crystaljbowers Another “pastors conference” we’ve been a part of in the past that used to be called “conference for pastors & church leaders (meaning women are semi-welcome & included) is this year called “the pastors conference”. Is this what growth in “practical complementarity” looks like?
