Q4: I like Class Dojo's translation feature! We also utilize a translator that is in our school to help support communication, written and spoken on the phone. ๐ฌ Our school also provides information pre-translated to send out on the platforms. #WiredWednesday
Q4: What strategies can teachers use to address communication barriers, such as language differences or cultural misunderstandings, when communicating with parents who may have different backgrounds or perspectives? #WiredWednesday
One great feature about Class Dojo is the quiet hours! I have mine set from 7:30am-6:00pm. This gives parents enough time to discuss their student's day in the afternoon and to accommodate morning messages before instruction. #wiredwednesday
Iโve heard of teachers who have had to establish boundaries with parents because theyโre receiving messages at midnight and not responding immediatelyโฆ ๐ #wiredwednesday@wirededucator
A3: I have found that communicating positively FREQUENTLY is helpful in addition to leading with the ways students are showing growth or their strengths, then incorporating the area of struggle is beneficial. Parents are more receptive.๐ #WiredWednesday
Q3: Ho can teachers navigate difficult conversations with parents, such as discussing a students academic struggles or behavioral issues, in a way that is productive and respectful? #WiredWednesday
A2: technology can be used to quickly distribute information to parents (Class Dojo, Remind). Benefits include open lines of communication and accessibility. Drawbacks are that dealing with so many parents and any questions they have regarding their student. ๐ฒ#WiredWednesday
Q2: In what ways can technology be used to enhance communication between teachers and parents? What are the potential benefits and drawbacks of using technology for this purpose? #WiredWednesday
A1: I communicate with parents is through Class Dojo. & utilize a newsletter that keeps parents updated on what we are learning and any important reminders and dates coming up. The newsletter also has links to helpful Quizlets or other learning games. ๐ณ#WiredWednesday
Q1: How can teachers effectively communicate with parents to create a supportive and collaborative relationship that benefits the students' learning experience? #WiredWednesday
@ajpodchaski A8: I don't have any experience outside of Class Dojo, but I would love some recommendations for student-teacher badges, new or innovative academic/behavioral badges or other useful resources to utilize in the classroom. #edtechchat
@ajpodchaski A7: The badging would be a great way for me to see who has utilized and mastered using resources from that vendor, and provide points of contact. It would also give a real idea of how to utilize their product. #edtechchat
@Mrs_Rogers4@ajpodchaski I agree! By the time students enter 5th grade, they need something new, and something that will mimic the expectations of middle school. #edtechchat
@ajpodchaski A6: Although my school utilizes Class Dojo for identifying and reinforcing positive behavior, this is the only badging program that I have seen make any kind of impact on a school. I would be eager to learn about other programs.๐ก #edtechchat
@ajpodchaski A5: I think that a badging initiative would encourage those educators/district employees who are already intrinsically motivated, while adding into frustration to those who are not. I think it would impact instruction in the same way. #edtechchat
@ajpodchaski A4: I think that badges could be used to help select who would be the most confident and qualified to lead teacher PD/training, in addition to providing identifiers as a quick reference in your building/district outside of the PD/training. #edtechchat
