This marks the end of 270 days in the field with these trouble makers. I am just about ready to never see a magpie again (I hear them in my sleep at this point🫠🦅)
Now straight to Shark Bay for dolphin season🐬
Will be glad of a big nap and a holiday when this is all over 🥴
Sometimes you fight the worm, sometimes the worm fights back 🪱

8 months into magpie fieldwork, 1 month to go 🥹🏁

@mandy_ridley This is one of GBYMs elder two! Exactly what George from SCL used to do when she was about this age so I think we’ve got another confident survivor on our hands! 🤞🏻
Very hard to conduct serious research when your study species is trying to eat your toes…
This little one is 11 weeks post-fledge and already very sure of themself…and very peckish👀
Today @G_Blackburn_ and @StephLMason returned a fledgling to its family for a happy reunion! This fledgling was picked up by a person who thought it was in trouble. Just a reminder: magpie fledglings walk on the ground. They are ok! Pls don’t pick them up unless injured!
But for now…
Feels good to be back with my feathered friends!
My magpie field season commences with finding everyone’s nests so I can be ready to go when the new batch fledge! 🪺
We are celebrating 40 years of research on the #Gathaagudu#SharkBay dolphins 🥳, founded by Richard Connor and Rachel Smolker in 1982. SBDR has shed important light on male cooperation, cultural evolution, dolphin ecology + communication @UZH_Science@BristolBioSci@BiolSci_UWA
Amidst terrible fomo seeing all the cool conferences, I’ve been dying to share the news of our latest discovery 🥳 You thought jumping spiders peaked in their coolness? Buckle up!!! We need to talk about #jumpingspiders potentially #dreaming. @PNASNews

I don’t believe Dutton is truly sorry for walking out on the Apology. He’s only sorry that, instead of becoming a folk hero, it exposed him as an uncaring far-right ideologue. He should never be PM. The Canberra Times asked me for my view, so here it is: https://t.co/WRgByNgt5w
