Huge news: The @ajc has hired Bill Nigut (@nigutb) as a co-host of the Politically Georgia podcast, which will become a weekday radio show on 90.1/WABE-FM starting this fall. He'll join me, @MurphyAJC and @TIAreports to host this daily show. #gapol

The reporters of the Athens Banner-Herald and the Savannah Morning News now join the @newsguild, and it is our hope that through collective action we can begin working to build a better local news infrastructure for the communities we serve.
Every since I started working from home, I’ve found coffee shops help me focus. The change of scenery from my house is almost like going into an office and sparks something productive in me
i’m sorry but is there anyone who can actually write and get work done in a café or can we all agree it’s just for show? unless it’s about having a level of concentration/dedication that i don’t have, in which case i surrender
two weeks ago, dozens of athenians woke up to antisemitic flyers on their doorsteps. how did they get there? and where do we got from here? https://t.co/WjLVpdRycc
@winteri44425404 Like I said, buried the lede. Real story is her denying and involving lawyers, not allegations of kicking an officer (which can still be reported but shouldn’t be the focus).
Unfortunately, saw no reporting (yet?) in flagpole, ABH, or APN so this is the article I had to post!
Buried the lede a bit imo:
“In a statement to Classic City News after her arrest, Thornton said that “intoxication was not a factor” in the accident and that she was working with her attorney “to correct the DUI charge.”

ICYMI, read @zoenicholson_ and @drewfav’s two killer exposés on inconsistent disciplinary practices in the Savannah Chatham County school district.

Also I realized I said ACCPD when really I should’ve just said LEO since the article mentions both sheriffs deputies and police officers. It seems to me that the PD was the arresting agency? But always a good reminder that police and sheriff are two different agencies
It’s such a bold claim and either way, the implications are pretty bad
Option A: Ovita is straight up lying about a DUI
Option B: ACCPD really messed up, leading to more questions of how, why, and has this happened to other people
I’d sure wanna know which option is the truth
This is almost as funny/bad as when I accidentally added an old work source to a DND group chat where we planned out the bombing of our fake city
She didn’t leave the chat for hours, after we repeatedly referred to our fantasy plan as “terrorism”… she works in veteran relations
I learned today I should probably delete all the phone contacts I built up in journalism, lest I want to accidentally text another state rep a Reddit link again
I just have a weird attachment to all these (now useless) phone contacts, I have the #’s of the most random people
Rail workers: hey we’re going to strike bc of unsafe conditions, bad benefits, & overworking that could lead accidents if things aren’t fixed
Conspiracist: Wow there are these trains derailing 😲this is so unprecedented 🤔it a MUST be a coordinated attack and no other reason 🥱
JUST IN: Another train has DERAILED in #Michigan that was carrying hazardous materials.
What is going on? This seems like a coordinated attack on our railway system across the country.
I’ve noticed it’s in key battleground election states too.
Ohio, Arizona, Michigan, Texas.
