Ph.D. candidate at @UDelaware studying early American street food | public historian | museum nerd (currently working with @LanCoHistory) | thrilled to be here
Hi, new followers! I’m Stephanie (she/her). I’m a History Ph.D. student with lots of overlapping subject interests. I did my M.A. thesis at NYU on the Whiskey Rebellion (https://t.co/DRoAuvb8Hf) and I’m obsessed with early American material culture, especially food culture! (1/3)
@McJuggerNuggets Hopefully you’re not reading the comments. It is brave to go public knowing there’s no easy way to talk about these things and there will always be a huge internet backlash, mostly from people who haven’t been there themselves.
@james_f_thomas I’d label Fig 1 as hipster and Fig 2 as scene. Emo as a buzzword/stereotype seems really early 2000s sad boy MySpace era, which neither of those fully capture.
@stephenfishbach Ours did the same thing and upgraded itself. The “natural conversations” are rough. Bring back clunky robotic Alexa that never did what you wanted but at least didn’t try to make small talk.
#OTD in 1860, President James Buchanan (portrait) hosted a reception in honor of Albert Edward, the Prince of Wales and future king of the United Kingdom, in the East Room of the White House. That reception is depicted in this drawing from Frank Leslie's Illustrated Newspaper.

Benjamin Franklin wearing a coonskin cap while being received by the French court. "Proper" attire at the time would have been a powdered wig, but Franklin enjoyed playing up his "rustic" American identity. On these trips, he asked for military support for newly independent US.
@itsmelissaaa Congrats! Sounds like my delivery experience. Within a month my BP was back to normal and it was like it never happened. Hoping your postpartum experience is similar. Hang in there!
@NateNewsNow Nate, would you consider making Courtroom Insider a podcast? I like listening to it and it would be easier and more accessible on a podcast app. Thanks for the coverage.
