@ftamf20@DrBradJohnson Because we are not only expected to be teachers, but we are expected to be counselors, social workers, nurses, protectors, take a bullet for our students, etc.
@VilleMafia@GovAndyBeshear Umm…no, totally inaccurate. As a teacher, you don’t get to choose which group of students you teach. We don’t get to control other factors in that child’s life that also play a part in their education such as parental support, home life, poverty.
@raideer1533 @haydenp89808037 This is awesome! I am his Reading teacher and what I just love about this kid is not only is he awesome on the court, but he is an all around good kid. So respectful in the classroom and a good student.
@kyhousedems @RepJosieRaymond but I have not gotten the return. Instead we have had to fight for pensions, fight to keep our healthcare premiums from raising, etc. We deserve better!
@kyhousedems @RepJosieRaymond I am a single parent and I have to watch every penny. There is nothing to save. That should not be. I have 5 degrees behind my name and am close to retirement, but I live paycheck to paycheck. I do not have a lot of debt. It is just everyday things. I invested in my education
@kyhousedems @RepJosieRaymond Absolutely because they make more in other sectors. We deserve to be paid what we are worth. The cost of everything is going up: gasoline, groceries, electricity, etc. but our salaries are not. We can’t live like that. I have 23 years experience with a Rank I.
@kyhousedems@TinaForKentucky I am a 22 year veteran teacher with my Rank I. I am a single parent of 2 boys. Inflation keeps affecting everything we use in our daily lives, but our salaries remain the same. As someone who does not have an extra income from a spouse, we NEED this raise.
@nema@JimCarroll19@joesonka@GovAndyBeshear This is what I have been screaming for years. The cost of living has went way up, but salaries aren’t budging. And then about every 2 years the cost of our health insurance goes up.
@nema Have by far put in more hours this year already than any other year. But those who aren’t teachers or who aren’t close to a teacher are turning on us once again.
@nema The proper precautions while we have had in person school. I feel my district has done a great job with the safety protocols but their is still fear. Those who are close to teachers know how hard they have worked this year. This is my 21st year and by far my hardest. I know I
@nema But my mother is his caretaker so I do what I can to help her out because her plate is full. My main fear has been the possibility of carrying the virus back to my parents. Secondly, if something were to happen to me, what would happen to my kids. I have not complained and I have
@nema This is spot on. This has been my concern since this pandemic started. I am a single parent to twin 11 year old boys. I am their only parent. I am also an only child to parents who are 72 and 77 years old. My father is disabled due to a stroke and thankfully my mother is healthy
