Here, Ringo Starr holds a pup while John Lennon and Paul McCartney hoist Paul’s famous Old English Sheepdog, Martha—the very dog that inspired McCartney to write Martha My Dear later that summer.

🎸 The White Album showcased four wildly different songwriters pulling in separate creative directions, resulting in everything from blistering proto-metal like Helter Skelter to acoustic fingerpicking like Dear Prudence.
