BREAKING: Donald Trump gets humiliated by an interviewer after absurdly claiming that there was a peaceful transfer of power in 2020 despite the deadly January 6th insurrection.
“Only three weeks to go to the election, will you commit now to respecting and encouraging a peaceful transfer of power?” asked Bloomberg Editor-in-Chief John Micklethwait.
“Well, you had a peaceful transfer of power,” said Trump without a trace of irony.
“You had a peaceful transfer of power!? Come on President Trump, you had a peaceful transfer of power compared with Venezuela but it was by far the worst transfer of power for a long time,” responded Micklethwait.
“Thank you I appreciate that,” Trump said to the audience after a few MAGA supporters booed. “This is you know what they like to do, this is what they like to do, uh, and you know it’s very interesting when I found about this interview, I did a little check, this is a man who has not been a big Trump fan over the years.”
“So I had a choice,” Trump continued rambling. “Do I do this interview or not? I’m glad I did but do I do this interview or do I disappoint a lot of people — because I know a lot of people in the audience — but his view is very different from mine.”
Trump then went on to wheel out his usual bad faith defense of the “patriotic” insurrectionists who stormed the Capitol. Crucially, he refused to commit himself to a peaceful transfer this time around.
This is utterly disqualifying.
