Finally holding my copy of How the Heartland Went Red!
My new book examines how place intersects with race, class, and religion in shaping the rightward turn in the industrial Heartland.

Join us for our next @MwHWG book talk with @StephanieTern! I'm hosting a discussion of her new book, "How the Heartland Went Red," Midwestern politics and history, and the 2024 election.

I had the best time talking with students & faculty @EasternCTStateU last night. It was a full-circle moment: after arriving in the US from Italy, knowing no English and never learning to read or write it, my Nona found a job there as a cook, which she kept for 33 years.
my parents, and in the multitude of public institutions, like Eastern and UConn, that have supported my family's livelihoods and education through the years. It was the perfect reminder that I stand on the shoulders of these tiny giants every day.
Not too late to apply for Harvard's junior IR search!
FYI - there's weird language in the ad about "โฅ 1 letter must come from someone who has not served as the candidate's advisor" -- this apparently just means other committee members (we didn't write it!)
Really looking forward to #APSA2024 this week, where I'll get to share a working paper from my new book project about suburban Democrats, which I've been working on for a little over two years now.

In the book, I plan to describe the forces that sustain these local political dynamics and assess the extent to which new policies and political mobilizations could disrupt the status quo. Looking forward to feedback as I develop this paper and make it into a real book!
#APSA2024 is next week, and @HarvardGovernm1 grad students are out in force!
With apologies for the janky spreadsheets, a quick, Crimson-themed preview of the schedule...
(I think I caught all our grad students and faculty affiliates, but if not, please chime in!)
If you've encountered me at all in the past two years, you know I love it here. It's mainly because of the people. If you're on the fence about applying because you don't think you'll find a supportive community here, just let me try and persuade you first!
@HarvardGovernm1 is hiring a junior faculty member in American politics with a focus on institutions: https://t.co/zUTV21WHGW. I'm not on the search committee, but I'm happy to talk to anyone who has concerns about what it's like to be junior here!
