As I am converging on the role of IL-15 in cancer and infectious disease, the more I explore the literature, the more I find that the hypothesis of the "Parallels between Cancer and Infectious Disease" is correct. Early on, I believed that COVID was one of the most immunosuppressive viruses and published the paper on the "COVID-19: Staging of a New Disease" with Dr. Carlos Cordon-Cardo.
Now, I find a thought leader, Dr. Richard S. Hotchkiss confirming the belief that both cancer and infectious disease run parallel courses and represent the collapse of the immune system. The power of IL-15 in correcting these disorders whether it be cancer or sepsis is our goal as we pursue clinical trials both in sepsis and multiple tumor types.
I could not agree more with this statement by Dr. Hotchkiss et al., that:
"On a more general level, greater collaboration is required between oncologists, infectious-disease
specialists, translational immunologists, and
pharmaceutical companies in developing clinically relevant tests that identify patient-specific defects in innate or adaptive immunity... A change in clinical outcomes — in both cancer and infectious disease — will occur more quickly if investigators in these specialties pull together."
ImmunityBio will be the harnessing force to make this collaboration happen and advance clinical trials to change the paradigm of care.

As I fly to El Segundo, to receive my #ANKTIVA for my colon cancer, I have to reflect.
I’m blessed by the God almighty to be part of the #BIOSHIELD protocol.
I have met friends and patients across the board. Whether it’s on X or in person. It is such an honor. People like..

We are ALL fighting for All Cancer patients. Release ANKTIVA
One in particular, @GretchMick
After getting accepted into the bioshield program, she was the first I reached out to, as her being a primary candidate for the Bioshield protocol. And thank God, and God bless her for reaching out.
$IBRX oh my god, PLEASE you gotta watch this:
On the Cuomo show last night with @drpatrick as a guest, an ex-FDA exec basically spilled everything:
Total CONFIRMATION of the CHAOTIC MESS INSIDE the FDA and how deep BIG PHARMA’S INFLUENCE really runs.
Uncoordinated and bureaucratic is still an understatement — it’s practically by design at this point.
And then there’s the bit about Merck and why Keytruda got approved… fascinating, if not a little too telling:
“Multibillion dollar company with floors of people that understand the science in very subtle ways and what the most direct streamline path will be to get an FDA novel.”
Admittedly there’s supposedly a new way of thinking now within the FDA - the talk of “collaboration,” “accelerated approvals,” etc.
But, also, in this round it’s confirmed: real change will still take a while.
Meanwhile, patients are still running out of time - this program made that painfully clear (see tweets of patients reports)
Why haven't we cured cancer? Is it about will or wealth or is there a reality we are familiar with? Tonight we get answers from the administration's top doctors and physicians - join me now on @NewsNation
@DrPatrick@DrPatrick Dr. Pat, does this protocol work for those with KRAS 12D/MSS? When I hear all solid tumors, I believe it does but I’ve been told no immunotherapy will work with the pathology I have.
Honored that the Saudi Embassy USA posted this recognition of @immunitybio efforts to bring Immunotherapy 2.0 as the next generation cancer care to their nation and embraced the concept of the power of NK and T cells to drive memory T cells.
Current fully enrolled studies across multiple tumor types including demonstrating that Anktiva increases lymphocytes, with data bases locked to be submitted for expanded and accelerated approval in the region, not unlike the multiple approvals USA FDA awarded Merck for Keytruda based on single arm trials- more details of this to come. Randomized trials already in motion for BCG naive and first plus second line lung cancer at global sites. Now multiple new confirmatory indications designed to address the previously unrecognized disease that causes early mortality - called lymphopenia - - will be all opened in short order in the region. From addressing sepsis to colon cancer to liver cancer and lymphopenia .
Lymphopenia is a real disease and for the first time we have a way to address it. Remarkably the number one ranked cytokine ( now Anktiva) to cure cancer and stimulate lymphocytes was recognized as far back as 2007 by NCI and a consortium of scientists from NIH, FDA, AACR and AsH ..more to come !
Black History Month is a time to recognize the lived, shared experience of all Black folks who have fundamentally shaped, challenged, and ultimately strengthened America. It’s about taking an unvarnished look at the past so that we can create a better future. As we mark 100 years of celebrating Black history, let’s honor the sacrifices of the leaders who came before us, and recommit ourselves to continuing their work.
Introducing the NANT Leonardo Robot with zero human touch points to produce valuable NK cells to protect our immune system.
Imagine a world where immune cells are manufactured by AI driven robots. This is where the power of AI is used for the good of all humanity, making expensive cell therapy affordable to all. Soon we will be launching a manufacturing plant filled with robots and machine vision trained AI to generate the "World Bank of NK Cells". Immunotherapy 2.0 on a global basis.
Imagine a robot like Optimus loading the NANT Leonardo Robot with the raw materials needed. @elonmusk
The FDA has granted RMAT (Regenerative Medicine Advanced Therapy) designation for the combination of ANKTIVA and CAR-NK cells in the treatment of pancreatic cancer.
This designation recognizes the therapy's innovation in treating refractory pancreatic cancer, which is expected to expedite the approval process.
While many competitors focus on early stage patients where treatment is relatively more manageable, ImmunityBio is dedicated to developing solutions for end-stage patients those facing the most challenging and treatment-resistant conditions.

Heartbreaking & urgent: Dr. Patrick Soon-Shiong reveals two children—an 11-year-old and a 13-year-old with pancreatic cancer—flew to his LA clinic for help after chemo failed. Both passed away while FDA bureaucracy blocked access to Anktiva, a treatment that tripled lung cancer survival from 7 to 21 months in trials.
He's filed 150+ compassionate use requests, received 13,000 desperate patient inquiries, and has White House-level support—yet red tape keeps this life-extending option from Americans, even as Saudi Arabia approved it.
This is life vs. paperwork. Soon-Shiong's relentless fight to get Anktiva to more people deserves real attention.
What do you think about streamlining compassionate access for terminal patients when data shows dramatic survival gains? Thoughts below.
Current CAR-T therapy is faced with multiple hurdles-the cost and time it takes to manufacture and most of all the need for patients to undergo chemo and be hospitalized doing so in order to rid the bone marrow of lymphocytes before the CART infusion. This process is called lymphodepletion. The toxic side effects and costs close to a million dollars is not sustainable. At our summit we showed how all of these were overcome! More to come. Immunotherapy 2.0
Thanks for sharing your research into our decades of work and the tireless team working hard to find a cure for cancer and to treat chronic and infectious disease ! Good summary of key clinical trials ongoing @immunitybio of the Bioshield program including our now completely enrolled trial to PREVENT cancer for over a million Americans at risk with Lynch Syndrome and a 80 percent higher risk of colon cancer because of a genetic abnormality.
Will provide updates next week on our Bladder cancer papillary disease discussions with FDA and updates on the exciting studies of growing NK cells and storing billions of these cells for treating patients with cancer with off the shelf NK cells that have been activated ( called Memory -Cytokine Enhanced Natural Killer cells or m-CENK for short) and manufacturing them at scale with Anktiva as the growth factor, creating a product and no longer a process …by launching the world’s first AI driven cell manufacturing robots that we have taught with machine vision algorithms to replicate our complex process of growing these m-ceNK cells by the billions and freezing them in storage 24/7 in a clean room “robot machine”. The cost reduction of cell therapy and CART cell therapy as a result has the real potential to change the field and make this next generation cell therapy combined with Anktiva …what we call immnunotherapy2.0 …accessible and affordable to those who need it.
The evolution of the Bioshield platform is unstoppable even though external forces try!
A good read below.
I know this starts with our Senators, but @realDonaldTrump@POTUS@RobertKennedyJr please look into the work @DrPatrick is doing to fight cancer. If his approach truly helps patients, it should be available in every state. Families like mine are counting on it. 💛
Please make this life saving work available ASAP. @DrPatrick is doing groundbreaking, innovative cancer care help save lives @BarackObama please help make #Bioshield#Anktiva a topic of conversation. Our communities need easy access to boost NK Cells to fight cancer.
We need to talk to our Senators about this.
@Hickenlooper@MichaelBennet PLEASE look into the work @DrPatrick is doing.
I plan on reaching out to discuss the life changing work that should be available to cancer patients in their own state.

This is such a breakthrough in #cancer treatment by harnessing your own immune system to target tumors & potentially replace chemotherapy.
Dr. Patrick Soon-Shiong, founder of ImmunityBio & a prominent figure in oncology (recognized in 2025 as one of the 100 most influential people in the field), is advancing immunotherapy through the company's FDA approved drug “Anktiva”(nogapendekin alfa inbakicept-pmln), an IL-15 superagonist.
Approved in 2024 for BCG unresponsive non muscle invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC) with carcinoma in situ (with or without papillary tumors), Anktiva activates natural killer (NK) cells, T cells & memory T cells to target cancer cells more precisely than traditional treatments. This approach often results in fewer severe side effects compared to high dose chemotherapy, while promoting durable responses & potential long term protection against recurrence in approved indications.
Clinical trials & real world data show Anktiva reducing tumor burden in certain patients, with high complete response rates & prolonged disease free survival in bladder cancer. In 2025, notable progress included FDA Regenerative Medicine Advanced Therapy (RMAT) designation for Anktiva combined with CAR-NK therapy to reverse lymphopenia (immune suppression caused by chemotherapy/radiation) in advanced pancreatic cancer, along with expanded access authorization for lymphopenia treatment across solid tumors. Data presented at ASCO 2025 demonstrated significant overall survival benefits in late stage metastatic pancreatic cancer patients when lymphopenia was reversed & ongoing trials explore applications in lung cancer, glioblastoma & other tumors.
Anktiva represents part of the rapidly evolving field of immunotherapy, which has already transformed outcomes for many cancers. @DrPatrick vision emphasizes shifting toward immune activating therapies that protect & empower the body's natural defenses, potentially reducing reliance on toxic chemotherapy in select cases.
While promising, especially for #BladderCancer & emerging data in harder to treat cancers like pancreatic, more studies are ongoing to expand approvals & confirm broader efficacy & safety.
This work offers renewed hope for patients facing challenging diagnoses.
As cancer patients we pray for another day. We wake everyday for a glimmer of hope. We seek good news. We long for one day of feeling well.
It is my goal in this life that God has granted me to be an example. To show there is hope. To show there is good news.
I’m gonna fight this, beat it, and share this journey for others. It will be done.
I am with all that battle this terrible disease, as I wish it upon no one.
I want no person to go through what I have been through for the past 5+years.
It is time to fight this together.
Please support and push for @DrPatrick #ANKTIVA TO BE APPROVED for all fighting.
Thank you @LoriMills4CA42 @ChiayuChenMD @bullishbruk@GretchMick and many others for your advocacy and voices.
It can’t happen soon enough
