@Eli_StayFocused Hate to say it man, the Japanese culture is more like JW’s but if you become Christian your family cuts you off. Not really a “to each his own.” It’s “the community is vastly more important than the individual”
@Eli_StayFocused More so in Japan you don’t speak directly, nor would you ever throw insults around. Even removing the insults, the way both men speak and act would repulse most Japanese from the Gospel
@Eli_StayFocused I don’t know if that’s the case, but that’s also just my opinion. I’ve watched less than ten streams he’s been on and that’s just the view I’ve seen. Plus I’ve grown accustomed to a much different approach to debate thanks to the context I’m in. Maybe I just need to give grace
@Eli_StayFocused And to be fair. I have to constantly remind myself there is a cultural element too. I’m in Japan, these tactics would push people away heavily. I’m not sure the culture AW are Mauler come from (new York, Midwest, the South, ect.) that matters regarding language and rhetoric
@Eli_StayFocused I can understand but I, personally, was also getting frustrated with Mauler. Maybe it’s a personality thing but it felt like he was derailing the conversations at times too. I get why people’s thoughts on AW but from my perspective Mauler was just as bad. I don’t enjoy his style
@johncdirks I think one formal debate and one informal debate is good. It plays to the strengths of both debators and we get to see how well both sides of the argument hold up in both styles of debate. Plus allows time for both to plan better for the second one
@JPuncut@Alex_Ortodoxie At the same time, Eastern Orthodoxy guys you MUST hold those who claim tradition accountable. you cannot cry hypocrisy when everyone has see what known accounts and anons have done. IF yall get upset at this but refuse to act against bad faith on yalls side, how can we teust you?
Have we lost the fact we are representatives of Christ? Let the Lord have his vengeance and let’s stick to representing Christ well with maturity and wisdom.
@JPuncut@Alex_Ortodoxie Especially if it’s public people just take screen shots of what they post and send it to their clergy. If there clergy does nothing we know what the EO standards for.
@JPuncut@Alex_Ortodoxie My man, I get your point but this isn’t helping bro. Let Alex do his thing and be above reproach. I feel like I’m posting this too much on every apologists and orthodoxy page: James 1:20.
@Eli_StayFocused@AL_J82 I’d argue as well we have those who stoop to the same level as the orthobros causing us to also look bad. We gotta hold everyone above reproach. We are Christ’s representatives
@RuslanKD@NewsNFTU I feel like 90% of this whole debacle, in regards to EO drama, is miscommunication, cultural disconnect and lack of grace regarding intentions.
@johncdirks@JPuncut@_InTheFilth@NGTown_26@Alex_Ortodoxie@paleochristcon I actually like having both debates. Shoot, strawmans only work once so if either person brings strawmans they cannot bring it a second time. Also it gives a chance for people to notice their own mistakes and communicate their arguments better the second time.
