One mistake I see a lot of young athletes and parents make is getting too sport-specific too early. At younger ages, training should stay general and well-structured.
Sprinting, jumping, strength training, balance, coordination, and movement skills all build overall athleticism that carries over to any sport.
@DanCevette Great analogy. It sounds like refraining from the assumption that optimal recovery from a tissue, energy system, etc perspective is based purely on a pitch count/days rest scale. A lower pitch count @ high stress is different than more pitches @ low stress/leverage situations.
@DanCevette Something else @DanCevette has mentioned before is intent. Learning to throw at sub-maximal intensity reduces arm strain/stress regardless of pitch selection.
Bennett with a solid effort behind the dish. Above average arm for his age at 76 MPH while posting the top pop time of the day with a range of 2.07-2.15. #JRNYSGames@DanCevette | @JoeWalentin | @CSPANO4
