A colleague just shared this with me. The Census is implementing significant changes to race and ethnicity questions and categories. https://t.co/i3TIVXMCKE
"After controlling for socio-demographic variables, having unmet needs for LTSS was significantly associated with poorer physical and mental health outcomes and suicide ideation." https://t.co/c34WD16efh
We just posted a position for an LTSS project manager! PM tasks are central to the role, but this is also an opportunity to have a substantial impact in the lives of older adults and people with disabilities. This is an all-star team, too! https://t.co/glDIu0rIil
Our new paper on PACE during the pandemic is out! This research underlines the benefits of providing older adults with care that is flexible, integrated, team-based, and person-centered.
Altarum's research, featured in December's @JAMDAcom, spotlights PACE organizations' resilience during COVID-19. Their shift to home-based care emphasizes integrated payments and person-centered support in long-term services. Read more: https://t.co/w9CogMn2aS
Our latest HSEI briefs show that health care job growth matched its 12-month peak in November, new CMS data indicate national health spending grew by 4.1% in 2022, and increases in utilization continue to outpace health care price growth. See the details: https://t.co/iAyCKoyA98
It's fascinating to see similar models evolve domestically and internationally. The integrated care model described in this article sounds like PACE and Age UK affiliates sound like @CommCareCorps grantees. https://t.co/0fBa4I59cj
Workforce, workforce, workforce! I'm excited to see the impact of the Direct Care Careers Center from @Altarum and @ADvancingStates. https://t.co/Ie8MK6ZHm7
As @biancafrogner points out, res care employment growth has mostly occurred in AL, not nursing homes. A sign of the times, to be sure. Makes me think of this @WestHealth survey: https://t.co/Y7aG2hvJ8X
Upon closer look, #assistedliving is the driving up the employment numbers in the nursing home sector while SNFs are slow to recover and remain at 10% below pre-pandemic levels, likely related to closures.

Excited to share that I've joined the HSEI team to track labor trends in the health sector! Employment growth slowed down significantly last month, particularly in the nursing home sector.
Our latest HSEI briefs show that health sector job growth slowed down somewhat after a brief surge, health care price growth stabilized, and health spending as a percent of GDP fell slightly after new BEA data revisions. See the details: https://t.co/zEIQFAOuHz
Check out last week's testimony from PHI's @keziascales before the U.S. Senate Special Committee on Aging. She spoke about the importance of investing in the direct care workforce to improve their economic security and enhance care for everyone. https://t.co/x0DdDaHvIA

My first piece at @Altarum! As part of our broader evaluation of PACE during the pandemic, we surveyed PACE sites about their workforce challenges. The results are concerning.
PACE organizations across the country have not been spared from workforce challenges, which threaten to complicate service delivery for program participants. We interviewed directors representing ¾ of PACE sites nationwide to learn more. https://t.co/M7zANLXbYc
I'm looking forward to discussing research on the health and healthcare of direct care workers--and to hearing from these folks about their research on the workforce and dementia care!
Good science raises awareness & leads to change. Thank you @TaraLaguMD for this study @Health_Affairs "These Doctors Admit They Don’t Want Patients With Disabilities." As a PCP, & as someone who's been in a chair at a point in time, it's sadly, spot on https://t.co/kVuYvCBJgi
