Thailand feels safer, especially in central Bangkok, but overall is objectively less safe than any european country.

@hw97karbine @twelveline_bloc That's it! In IL-2 Sturmovik I programmed a P47 to fly down a line of 20mm flak guns firing at ~ this angle, counted hits before AI pilot lost control, died etc about 100 times. Result, hits in game were far too effective: confidence intervals barely overlapped.

@hw97karbine @twelveline_bloc It may have been another report based on static testing of weapons vs US planes. Cannot find it now - the old forums are as dead as my old PCs and I lost interest in CFS over10yrs ago. But certainly, a head on hit on a bomber cockpit with a 30mm will usually be a kill.

@hw97karbine @twelveline_bloc There was a USSBS report on testing just post war that suggested the same ratio, but with hits needed about double these: there may have been selection bias when looking at planes your own side has shot down. I used it to compare with a CFS damage model, lol, happy OCD times.

@hw97karbine This applied in WWI as well, more often than not. Duals, with planes turning around one another until one emerged the victor, did happen, but were very rare. We don't have gun cameras but we do have combat reports, which often tell the same story.

@REPHVIM My father was from Kent and I went to school in the Kent/London border area: my mother - from Yorkshire - always said we could not say "saw" correctly, as we pronounced it as "sore". TBH I still have difficulty hearing the difference.

@WB_Baskerville Jurors are the sole judges of facts: each also the sole judge of the degree to which they find their own doubts to be "reasonable". Persecuting individual jurors is unacceptable - a better way to deal with this kind of event is to accept a majority verdict, as in English law.
