Stephen Stern

Writer/creator of Zen Intergalactic Ninja and President of Storyboard Graphic Novels

[Stephen Stern @StephenLStern]

Flanked by two serious Hollywood troublemakers — writer/director/producers Tim Chizmar and Mark Savage.
Later this month, I’ll be at the Glendale screening of Savage’s horror-comedy Jeffrey Dollmer. Because apparently Hollywood still has a few wonderfully twisted ideas left.
Your move, Chucky.

Just came across the gorgeous Pharos Books softcover edition of my Beowulf graphic novel. Pharos is a leading educational publisher in India for classes K-12, with titles ranging from The Great Gatsby to Gulliver’s Travels. It’s an honor to see Beowulf in such great company.

Talent agent Pierre Patrick and I attended the Beverly Hills event honoring the 25th anniversary of September 11. It was very moving. We are standing in front of an original steel beam from the World Trade Center that is at the heart of the city’s Memorial Garden.

Proud to stand alongside Keith David in support of Lisa Marie as she launches “The Hummingbird,” a powerful project inspired by true stories of missing children.
Lisa is bringing attention to stories that deserve to be heard—and we are honored to stand with her.
Here’s to Lisa Marie, to The Hummingbird, and to using our voices for something that matters.

Just met one of the most extraordinarily talented people in Hollywood—the incomparable Keith David. Actor, singer, three-time Emmy winner, Tony nominee, and possessor of one of the greatest voices ever to come out of a human being. And every bit as gracious as he is gifted.
As far as I’m concerned, there are only two Davids in Hollywood: Keith and Larry. And I’m delighted to have finally met this one.

I’m very proud to share that my songwriting partner Liyah Bey has just published her new book, MASTERING THE ART OF SINGING, now available on Amazon.
Working closely with Liyah on our music has given me a firsthand appreciation for the extraordinary combination of talent, discipline, instinct and emotional commitment she brings to her craft. She doesn’t simply sing a song—she searches for the truth in it.
In MASTERING THE ART OF SINGING, Liyah shares the knowledge and experience she has accumulated throughout her journey as a vocalist, songwriter and performer, offering aspiring singers insight into everything from technique and discipline to confidence, interpretation and connecting emotionally with an audience.
I couldn’t be happier to see her passing that knowledge along to the next generation of singers.
MASTERING THE ART OF SINGING by Liyah Bey is available now on Amazon.

Such a pleasure joining my VOIDSTRYDER co-creator, the extraordinarily talented artist Gary Laib of Skyhurst Studios, at LFG Con in Burbank yesterday!
The response to our fantasy graphic novel has been so wonderful that I’ll be back today from noon to 2 PM for another signing.
A story of love, death and redemption, brought vividly to life by Gary’s enchanting art, VOIDSTRYDER has been striking a chord with readers young and old. Come by, say hello, and discover the world we created together.

The gorgeous new large-format edition of VOIDSTRYDER, published by 1First Comics, has finally arrived!
See it this weekend at the Skyhurst Studios booth at LFG Con, at the Burbank Marriott Hotel & Convention Center, starting Saturday. And I’ll be there around noon, if you’d also like to get my signature on this beautiful book.
Gary Laib’s extraordinary artwork is nothing short of enchanting—and now, for the first time, it can be experienced in the large format it was meant to be seen in.

Super-exciting news: There will be a special, limited-edition preview comic of ZEN: Alternate Visions available at 1First Comics booth #2001 at Comic-Con. It features an iconic cover by Jim Fletcher, based on his artwork for the Zen NES game that was also used on one of the covers of the Zen Archie series. Inside are previews of stories including “Alien vs. Demon” with art by pop superstar L’Amour Supreme that originally appeared in Heavy Metal magazine. There’s also “The Savage Stick of Zen” with art by my Zen co-creator Dan Cote, and a preview of one of our wildest stories ever, when Zen crossed over with Playboy Playmates the Barbi Twins in “The Roswell Incident,” with art by Bill Maus. And that’s just a taste of what you’ll find in this collector’s item comic. See you at Comic-Con!

See you there!

Black Hole Bob is currently running riot in the pages of ZEN: Bounty Wars, and if you’ve missed the series on Kickstarter so far, you’ll have the opportunity to get the whole story when we launch the campaign for the fourth and final issue—coming soon. In the meantime, here is a brand-new pic of the baddest badass bounty hunter of them all, courtesy of the talented artist I created him with—WILL CYPSER!
