I’m Supporting Tinubu Because He’s From Osun, and Four Years May Not Be Enough to Complete His Reforms— Gov. Adeleke

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has expressed support for President Bola Tinubu, saying the President should be given more time to complete the reforms his administration has embarked upon.

Speaking on the issue, Adeleke said his position is influenced by both regional considerations and what he described as an unwritten political understanding that power should rotate between the North and the South.

According to the governor, “I’m supporting Tinubu number one because he’s from Osun State and I believe that, well, although it’s not in the constitution, but it’s an arrangement within the party that if Northerners should do eight years, let the Southerners do eight years.”

Adeleke claimed that Tinubu’s current tenure may not be sufficient to fully achieve the objectives of his administration, adding, “I believe that we should give him a chance. Four years may not be enough for him to materialize the reforms. So that is why he’s trying his best.”

The governor also praised the President for releasing funds to states, noting that state governments have a responsibility to ensure such resources are properly utilized.

“Look at what he has done in terms of releasing money to the state. So it depends on the state to utilize the money very well although the economy is harsh and has eaten up the money but at least he’s trying his best to release money to everyone,” Adeleke said.

The governor suggested that Osun State might have benefited even more if he belonged to the ruling APC, saying, “Maybe if I’m in APC I could have gotten more, but at least I thank God for the new one that I’m taking and I’m utilizing it so kudos to him.”
