Banksy confirmed on social media that a statue that appeared in central London of a man striding off a plinth, with his face blinded by a billowing flag, is one of their works. https://t.co/oheHkqdrVQ
Thank you to my coauthors Mike Klassen and Nasir Hussain, as well as the NFPA Fire Protection Research Foundation, the Project Technical Panel, and Project Sponsors for their support of this project.
CSE's FPRF report discussing the fire hazards of modern vehicles in parking structures including knowledge gaps in published experimentation and a proposed testing approach to fill those gaps has been released. You can download the report here:

It also includes a review of relevant fire codes and standards requirements, a discussion of a few relevant fire incidents, and information about the relevant characteristics of parking structures.
@GuillermoRein We're looking at some of these issues including sprinkler protection in our NFPA FPRF phase 2 project right now. Report should be published soon on the FPRF website.

Let's play: "Guess the year"
2000? No way!
1990? Get serious!!
1980? Whaat?
This Montgomery Ward Smoke Alarm was manufactured in 1974. It doesnβt even have a test button. That would make it: 49 years old!
@Maryland Law requires ALL smoke alarms to be LESS than 10 yrs @mcfrs
@WojciechITB Of course, we also note that in a potentially unconditioned environment, with car exhaust and all kinds of other environmental issues (dust etc.), nuisance/false alarms could be an issue. So many challenges in parking garages...
@WojciechITB This was one of the conclusions from our parking garage fires report for the NFPA Research Foundation. Detection could be an option to discover car fires faster and get the FD on scene as quickly as possible. Looks like that worked in your case.
