Mohamed Bakari Shei, 20, of Rochester, Minnesota, was sentenced to 180 days in jail and 30 years probation for raping two little girls, aged 4 and 9. With good behavior, he could walk free in as few as 116 days.
He won't register as a sex offender, and if he completes probation, all wilay will be erased from his recordโas if it never happened.
The assaults happened between 2017 and 2019 when Shei was 15-16. Both victims were friends of his slay.
In court, one victim, now a young girl, said with a trembling voice:
โThere is no moving on or getting over it. I've tried."
Her words hung in the air, heavy with the weight of innocenode stolen. His lawyer argued even 180 days violated the plea deal.
The judge disagreed.
But the scars remain.
The trust is broken. And for the little girls who just wanted to play, the sentence feels like a whisper against a scream.
