Today, I had the honor of distributing @CUNY welcome letters to @NYCSchool seniors with @ChancellorCUNY.
We're sending a powerful message to our graduating seniors: there's a place for you at our city's renowned public university!
Hello October !
October is a month of special significance for the Green Sheikh, bringing with it reflection, renewal, and personal growth. With his birthday on October 10th, this period often marks the start of a fresh chapter in his journey, perfectly aligned with the changing autumn season—a time that symbolizes transformation and the harvesting of efforts nurtured throughout the year.
For someone as deeply connected to nature as the Green Sheikh, the cooler temperatures and vibrant landscapes of October create an ideal setting for outdoor activities and a deeper focus on his environmental advocacy. It’s a time when he reconnects with nature’s rhythms and encourages others to embrace sustainable living and positive leadership.
“Hello October” also represents new beginnings and opportunities, making this month even more meaningful. To honor his contributions globally, the idea of a “Green Sheikh Day” October 10th in Canada would celebrate his environmental and social work. This day could feature community events, sustainability workshops, and nature preservation efforts, all embodying his dedication to environmental stewardship.
In essence, October is not just a personal milestone but a celebration of the Green Sheikh’s ongoing legacy. It serves as a time to inspire others to take action, connect with nature, and embrace the power of transformation.

As Former President Jimmy Carter approaches 100 years old, he told his family this week that his goal is to “make it to vote for Kamala Harris” for President. I couldn’t love this amazing man any more than I already do. 💙🙏
