No aluminium for the Russian war machine.
Recent investigations into alumina exports raise serious concerns about European-produced materials entering supply chains linked to Russia's military-industrial complex.
Aluminium is a critical component in the production of Russian missiles, drones, military aircraft, and other weapons used daily against Ukraine and its people.
We welcome the Irish authorities' decision to launch an official investigation and expect it to be conducted swiftly, independently, and transparently.
European production and supply chains must not contribute, directly or indirectly, to sustaining Russia's war machine.
Instead, Russia must be deprived of access to any and all critical resources and materials. Earlier EU restrictions on cellulose and chrome have made a real difference. Now is the time to apply the same approach to alumina.
Ukraine will continue working with Ireland, EU institutions, and international partners to strengthen sanctions pressure on Moscow and close gaps that enable Russia's defence industry to operate.

Greystones Volunteers Tackle 200kg of Rubbish in Spring Clean Drive
A highly successful National Spring Clean event took place on Saturday, April 18th in Dr. Ryan Park, Greystones bringing together dedicated members of the local community to tackle litter and illegal dumping. The initiative was organised by Cllr Stephen Stokes.
Volunteers worked to collect an estimated 200kg of waste from the park and surrounding areas. Among the items removed were astro turf, bricks, cans, cardboard, glass bottles, jeans, mattress springs, metal poles, pipes, plant pots, shoes, sweet wrappers, and even a large gas canister. The sheer variety and volume of waste highlights the ongoing issue of careless dumping in public spaces.
Cllr Stephen Stokes extended sincere thanks to all volunteers who gave their time and energy. Their efforts made a big difference and demonstrated the strength of community spirit in Greystones. Special appreciation was also expressed to An Taisce, Greystones Tidy Towns and the Greystones Municipal District Office for their continued support and assistance in making the clean-up a success.
While the day showcased what can be achieved through collective action, it also served as a reminder of the persistent problem of illegal dumping. The presence of bulky items in a public park is unacceptable and places an unfair burden on volunteers and local authorities. Such behaviour undermines community efforts and damages the natural environment that everyone shares.
Concluding on a positive note, Cllr Stephen Stokes highlighted the great team effort on display, as many items collected were salvaged for recycling. Cllr Stokes remarked: "Every time we do a clean-up, we get more experienced at separating out a range of items that can get a second chance. For example, glass bottles, cans and cardboard are some of the items that the volunteers were able to save. We want to do everything we can to promote sustainability."

It has been a fantastic week having our good friend Cllr Stephen Stokes, who represents Greystones in Ireland, campaigning with and helping us out this week ๐ถ๏ธ A big thank you to @StephenStokes1 and to everyone we spoke with this week!
@FinnEoghan Forgive the intrusion. Small tip. The chess pieces need to be set up so that the white square is in the bottom right hand corner. Nice table though. Looks vintage.

If you have @DisneyPlus you must watch Suspect. The real story about the innocent Brazilian man that the British Police executed in #London in 2007.
He never jumped a ticket barrier and was given no warning before they shot him.
A superb programme by #Disney.
WARNING
Wicklow County Council was recently made aware of a QR code scam on Pay and Display Machines in the County, where a bogus QR sticker was placed on some machines and Payzone signage. This QR code sticker brings the user to a fraudulent cloned website which requests credit card details and other personal data. We have reported this to Payzone.
As a precaution, Wicklow County Council are advising all users not to scan any QR codes or bar codes that may appear on Pay and Display machines or Payzone signage.
Users are advised to pay for parking online, to download the genuine Payzone parking app directly on your phone, or pay by card or cash where available. We encourage everyone to be careful when paying online, and to ensure they are using a genuine app.
The video was taken earlier today.
