@AndyJScott That’s total added sugar, ie in a drink, not total sugar consumed. You could make the argument that sugary drinks are swallowed quickly whereas less-sugary drinks are savored, increasing contact time with the teeth, increasing cavity. Total consumed vs cavities would look v diff
@Hieraaetus Both were intended to work in concert: the KH would be supported by the people via the MP. The BG were angling for the throne, and thus would control both political and religious forces. They plan to try again millenia later with Sheanna and Duncan with the Tyrant’s religion.
@kaidi_wu The work environments are much more varied in industry than in academia. The worklife balance in academia is poorer overall. If you want to be successful at an R1 institution, your only course is to publish or perish.
@kapahi_pankaj I also agree: reject the candidate and explain the reason. But if an applicant writes a good proposal and doesn’t get the position, what do YOU do with the proposal? Discard or reuse it?
@ArashKheradvar@julieSdimartino Why try to pursue an academic job when the number of open positions is woefully insufficient to support the number of job seekers? Grind in a ‘temporary’ job for years? Not to mention faculty positions are low-paying and with poor quality-of-life.
@pauldauenhauer You know, for mentoring 20 PhD students, you don’t seem to understand the value of and difference between PhD and professional students. You are directly benefiting from the papers they publish. A med student isn’t expected to operate & produce independently.
@pauldauenhauer Huh, it’s a ‘salary’ now, is it? It was always described to me as a ‘stipend.’ And I love when PIs whine about ‘overhead’ as if the grad student has any say in the matter. Take it up with your administration as to why it costs more than a grad student’s ‘salary.’
@McCroryLab What is this 3x nonsense? Is this guilt-tripping people, akin to saying 20% is the new average tip? If you want more reviewers, then properly incentivize people to review or disincentive authors from submitting an article that contains the least amount of publishable content.
