@mgtruth Yup and we’re still reeling from it. But that aside the impact on our services means 1000s not getting help and support. It’s tragic Ruth and heartbreaking that stormont could have stepped in but didn’t because it’s the Brit’s fault apparently. As usual our politics found wanting
@Channel4News As a start they could stop cutting funding for the specialist organisations who have been supporting these young people. NI vol sectors lost 400 or so staff due to 65% cuts to their funding from Westminster in favour of more £ for capital projects. Lunacy.
After nearly two years the government publishes an interim report saying there is a system failure for young people ( NEETs) getting jobs. We have to wait for a second review for any answers on what to do about it. Why the big delay?
The answer to the big issue posed in the NEETs report is create more jobs. How many more times do we have to tell this government their tax on jobs, their high taxes on business, their dear energy and their net zero bans destroy vacancies and create unemployment?
@Conservatives Maybe you should own your role in creating this issue. It didn’t happen overnight. It’s been coming year on year for many years. I’m no labour fan but conservative cock ups have created and enabled this. 14 years you lot were in charge and destroyed the uk.
@Rob722656571901@Wescott_1_ Your right also cost to health/justice/housing etc as well. It’s endless costs when people aren’t working and contributing but support is needed for lots of these young people. This has elements of kick on from Covid/brexit/under investment from gov etc. it’s a combination of 💩
@SorchaEastwood This isn’t a surprise sorcha. Cuts to organisations offering support to such young people was always going to lead to this. We’ve just seen 65% cuts to projects who offer specialist support and our governments (here and Westminster) allowed it to happen. They didn’t want to help!
