Benefit cheat who claimed she was housebound and unable to walk ran multiple 10k races while raking in Β£25,244 in disability payments
Lisa Thompson, 49, from Shrewsbury, Shropshire, told the Department for Work and Pensions she was severely disabled and needed help with basic daily tasks.
She was awarded Personal Independence Payment (PIP) at the enhanced rate, including a Motability car, over several years.
DWP investigators discovered she had competed in at least three 10k races in 2020 and 2021, including the Market Drayton 10k where she finished in one hour and three minutes.
She was also seen taking part in combat classes at a gym.
Thompson pleaded guilty at Shrewsbury Crown Court to fraud by false representation and was jailed for seven months.
