@EdChangeSIG@JPCCJournal@ICSEIglobal@JournalEdChange@intl_ed_news@arceducation1@HannahBijlsma Intellectual & departmental boundaries, Many areas are isolated, & work gets duplicated. I've done a project just to find another person in a different department is working on similar project. crossing boundaries strengthens research by allowing different perspectives.
@EdChangeSIG@JPCCJournal@ICSEIglobal@JournalEdChange@intl_ed_news@isobeltx So, I always say, change starts with conversations. Although I'm a phd student, this conversation started in my master's program. I think that is critical. the sooner you prepare minds the better leaders we get. Perhaps, starting at a lower level associates/bachelors.
@EdChangeSIG@JPCCJournal@ICSEIglobal@JournalEdChange@intl_ed_news@isobeltx Every scholar has a different role. Sometimes its the conversational starters who talk about it and get in the minds of people. Its the doers who don't just talk about but collaborate to make improvement. Most often, people don't know what they don't know. so educating people
@EdChangeSIG@JPCCJournal@ICSEIglobal@JournalEdChange@intl_ed_news@isobeltx I think there are two components necessary, have the background science as a basis, but sometimes you need leaders who make it a priority. You are going to do this because I said. Some will do willingly and some need to be forced.
@EdChangeSIG@JPCCJournal@ICSEIglobal@JournalEdChange@intl_ed_news@CarolCampbell4 We were forced into educational change, I am hoping that we learned a lot of from this experience and we are better equipped for bigger equitable change. I also feel we learned to identify people who had a strong support and those who don't to help be part of that distribution.
@EdChangeSIG@JPCCJournal@ICSEIglobal@JournalEdChange@intl_ed_news @HelenJancMalone Before, the inequity in school was talked about by few. Now its out there for the world to see, so their is no denying it. I think we have a wonderful opportunity to make real change.
@EdChangeSIG@JPCCJournal@ICSEIglobal@JournalEdChange@intl_ed_news @HelenJancMalone This what I'm extremely passionate for. Its the BIG picture initiative. Getting local govt, public schools & community college together. I set aside money in 2022. kids will vote on 3 different city initiatives. Also working on coding contests. Kids are our future citizens.
@PedroANoguera Pandemic learning has made us more aware of students home situations. We don't just "know' about it, we see it. We can become better educators if we take what we learned and implement better strategies.
