Catholic Catechumen ✝️ Seeking, learning, becoming 📿 Outspoken, opinionated and trying to become better. Not a theologian. Learning Koine. Former Atheist.
Trying to curate a timeline filled with Christian brothers and sisters.
If you are one of the aforementioned then I would be grateful if you followed so I can follow you back.
God bless you all. ✝️📿
This “Mormons aren’t Christian” thing is a uniquely American issue.
The rest of the world told you Mormons weren’t Christians years ago. The fact Americans accepted they were is actually a great indication of poorly catechised Christians.
@RobertBlume8@inthe306@Orko1214632 No, the original post was about the situation now and the ones after were a critique about Protestantism in general.
@inthe306@Orko1214632 You are correct in a sense, I’d say it is dispensationalism/evangelicals that sped up the process, however, they are still Protestant so the point still stands.
Protestantism is the vessel which allows it.
@dekad3z The Scofield reference bible played a massive part in diluting Christianity. I don’t want to be “that guy” but it’s almost as though this was the plan all along.
@Orko1214632 Can’t disagree. I would say tolerance of these cult like groups stems from Protestantism and the very low bar provided to claim Christianity.
@ansAZ14@JPuncut@superxtianmario Only if you separate it from the letters that were ratified as standard for orthodoxy at the very same council which makes it incoherent.
You’re failing to grasp that you cannot separate them. Separating them means you are in fact not Chalcedonian.
@ansAZ14@JPuncut@superxtianmario I did. “born of the Virgin Mary… according to the manhood,”…
The creed was literally built on the back of Cyril’s Christology, all of it, not just one part. That’s why that’s exactly what that part means.
You cant isolate it, that’s not how any of this works.
@ansAZ14@JPuncut@superxtianmario Yes. They did. You are simplifying it to one issue. The council ratified his letters, not just one specific part. You cannot pick and choose which parts of the council you agree with and reject the rest. It’s incoherent.
@fbabornman@atgeo@joshwhitlatch For clarity, the person in the post doesn’t represent Catholics and what they said is indeed problematic.
My problem is calling the statue itself “idol worship”.
@fbabornman@atgeo@joshwhitlatch Stop posting AI as replies. The brackets and year are a dead give away.
The real presence was a universally accepted thing in early Christianity.
With the utmost respect, I don’t think you have a grasp on early Christianity at all and are using AI (which didn’t refute anything)
@hillbillyscept2@shoah2024@SolaSixMillion It’s widely accepted that Jesus likely knew Greek due to trade.
But let’s just reverse for a minute and emphasise Jesus is God which means he knows all languages.
